Frustrations from an Akali Fan

Back in season 3 I used to play a lot of Akali. I loved the feeling of being able to dart back and forth across the map with my ultimate and disappear into the shroud, playing mind games with my opponent. When Ascension came out, her ability to gap close made her unfairly strong in that map and there was a large anti-akali sentiment on the boards which snowballed the animosity to rift akali. This led to some nerfs and her disappearance from both Lcs and normal play for the most part.

The nerfs addressed both the length of the range on her ultimate as well as her ability to proc her mark with her e, which is must faster and more fluid that doing so with an auto attack. Since then, her kit is significantly less fun. The length of her ultimate was somewhat understandable as her range made it difficult to harass her for many mages but no longer being able to proc her q with her crescent slash made engages slow and clunky. I assume most akali players moved onto assassins with faster initiate and disengage as her play rate plummeted. In the current meta, her most viable role is that of a mobile tank which feels like a generally worse version of Irelia. The frustrating part of this is that for the entirety of last season she has had these problems and the assassin rework looks to be after this season so she won't be In an ok spot for a while. I can understand that Riot wants to make her kit healthier in the long run as they consider her current kit too binary (which is ridiculous because rengar, zed, fizz, katarina and every other nuke diving assassin is also binary) but instead of waiting until season 7 to play akali in a viable state I am proposing to give back the ability to proc her q with the crescent slash, even if her overall ap ratios need to be nerfed. The reason for this is to improve the fluidity of her combo. This is still an overall nerf from season 4 akali (who had roughly a 50 percent win rate all year) and would be a justifiable buff over season 5 akali (roughly a 47 percent win rate all year with low play rate.)

I agree with you... I really miss old Akali and Riot seems to ignore the fact that Akali really needs some attention.
