Why people still activate Youmuu's Ghostblade when they are attacking towers?

item 3142 used to give attack speed, back then it was justifiable to use its active when attacking towers, since with the higher attack speed, you would take the tower faster.

However you are now better off saving the active, especially if your HP is very low, because if the enemy comes to try to kill you, item 3142's active can save your life.

I don't understand why people still activate item 3142 even though it doesn't give attack speed anymore.

Mostly out of habit. It can take a person weeks or even months to adjust to change on an unconscious level.

Here's a RL example. I used to store my coffee in my right-side kitchen cabinet, but, because I brew my coffee beneath my left-side cabinet, I eventually moved my coffee over to the left-side cabinet. For the next couple of weeks, I awoke spending an extra 5 minutes looking for my coffee because I had forgotten where I placed it. It was only after I remembered I switched it over that I found it. This stopped being a problem after I got into the habit of seeing it in the left cabinet.

Because not being up to date with the item descriptions and/or buying and using stuff out of habit rather than through decision making.

It's probably just habit or not realising it doesn't help anymore.

That said, I suppose it could be anticipation of needing to escape, and they want it already active to save a fraction of a second, similar to why you sometimes see pro players 'kiting' wards/towers even with no minions/enemy champs around. (Of course, this doesn't apply if people are actually beating on the turret for more than the 6 seconds ghostblade lasts.) I don't think this is the case, but I suppose it's a possibility.

Its like how I see soraka's use E to waveclear even tho it doesn't damage non-champions lol.

To be simple: Muscle memory. It's habit.

active gives ad

YumaS2Astral1 votes

Actually, no. Active just gives movement speed and nothing else.

Unless you are Hecarim, then it gives AD (because of his passive).

ok thought they put 20 ad on the active at one time
