I got three rules. You’re breaking two of them with that outfit

He was designed to be gratingly arrogant at first and then grow on you, becoming endearing, as you play more games with him.

Rathar Dashing4 votes

He had the opposite effect on me. For me Xayah was the one I thought was annoying, but has grown on me.

Same here and i have 3 ap items short range and delayed spells and they are pretty long cooldown for a mage id think that id do some type of damage or heal a bit of hp.

Rakan is not fun to play against

Too bad you made him Riot

Thefrostyviking8 votes

Is there any champ that is fun to play against when it's good?

I cant think of a single one, everything starts raising my tilt levels when it gets to a certain point.

.....

Except maybe Aurelion, because i have never seen him being that good in either normals or soloq or draft, ever x)

Any champ in league can be frustrating as hell to deal with under the ...wrong? Circumstances though.

But i do know, i vastly prefer playing against Rakan over Soraka, lulu, janna or Brand when they are good.

Him? All he does is flash ulti ontop of you, same shit as Annie but deals a lot less damage but he has a easier time hitting more people.

Z3Sleeper1 votes

I think that's exactly what I don't like about playing against him.

His instantaneous ult -> flash W. Such an insanely fast and reliable initiation combo.

SpaghettiVase2 votes

Most, if not all, play-making supports have reliable combos for initiation. If they didn't, they wouldn't be played ever over a healer.

Z3Sleeper2 votes

True. Facing a Rakan is just scary tho, knowing at any moment of his choosing he can instantly charm -> knockup a few of your allies.

Thefrostyviking2 votes

From my perspective it's still less worrying than a Annie ulti x)

And Sona F-R is just as nasty, but the difference currently is that Rakan rolls unsealed spellbook while most other supports don't .....which means his flash-engage combo is up that much more often.

Pretty sure several Annie players are doing it too.

I'd much rather face Soraka than Rakan. Soraka's easy, you just blow her up. Lulu, you force her to ult herself so that she doesn't ult her ADC, then turn on the ADC. Janna, well....she's kind of a bitch(I swear to this day she caused those mountains to collapse herself), and Brand is pretty rough, but Soraka and Lulu have nothing on Rakan's level of CC, considering he can chain TWO CCs together extremely easily and dance between enemies and allies. He's an extremely annoying champion to face, especially when paired with a Xayah.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Good raka hides behind her ADC and drops silence on herself whenever you dive her while marksman shoots at you, i seriously have no idea how to deal with that.

Lulu is kinda the same, ulti knockback into polymorph and slow while marksman is shooting.

Janna.......is like lulu but harder to catch at all x)

And my preferred ADC into Xayah is Cait so i rarely get to suffer much from her even if Rakan is there^^

I generally play Katarina, it's not hard to get to a Soraka, or a Lulu. Lulu's a bit harder to deal with than Soraka, but I can still make her waste her ult on herself. Rakan just E's who I initiate on, R>W>Q's me, and then E's them again any time I try to attack anyone and I'm stuck standing there for about 3 seconds until the rest of his team catches up. It's rather hard to deal with a support who can stop you from doing the one thing you're supposed to do so well. They're usually extremely focused on saving that combo for me as well. And if the ADC is a Xayah, it just becomes even crazier because of her ult, and if she has flash, she can pretty much guarantee her E hitting me despite my attempts to dodge it. I miss when Xayah was less about her autos and more about her E....

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Ah i guess i should account for champions played as well, but with what you wrote in mind your statement makes a lot of sense.

But i am fairly sure they haven't touched Xayah? She shouldn't be any different compared to before....

One of the very first things i noticed with her when she was released was that her W auto attacks post like 2-3 items were actually extremely strong because of the damage enhancement, all you needed do was kite for your life and the damage would be nuts.

E was just like a added bonus post that point, you could still nuke someone with a bunch of feathers out but it was not needed in particular.

Before they nerfed her Q to not work when auto attacking, everyone was building her with her recommended item setup, which was built more towards her E. Her autos hurt too, but not near as much as now. Now people build IE on her early and focus on auto attacks instead of going for the feather pull damage, and just use the pull as an "Oh shit I fucked up" button.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Really? O_O

Koreans have been building Essence reaver on her since release pretty much, and they are still doing it.

And given their reputation i do think it's safe to believe they know what they are doing, rushing IE is not really needed and it even compromises on the safety side of things.

But i just now even checked the most played Xayahs for diamond+ in Korea, and they are still building ER first.

Rushing IE......like sure, if you can get a zeal item very damn fast right away after and no enemy has the ability to dive on you, but if they have capable divers then lower ulti and E CD is priceless.

Not saying they rush it. But I've been seeing it pretty early in their builds rather than later on. Generally in their first 3 items. The most used core on op.gg is ER>RFC>IE. It's hard to even comprehend the amount of damage from autos she gets out of that. When I played her I did well even without IE until like my last crit item, because of her E. Like I would never even build IE unless I was just ahead and wanted 100% crit because my E did so much damage and I usually had the attack speed and 40% CDR to pretty much just spam my E. Now it's like balls to the wall full damage on both autos and E with IE. I just wish they'd made her rely on her E much more for damage and safety so she didn't have so much of both and just use it as a panic button. It was much more fun to kill people with E and rely on spells than to just right click them down. But I guess that's the nature of ADCs.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Ah a difference of playstyle x)

I always built her the korean way because i felt comfortable doing it having done it previously with Ashe.

That AA damage was much too good to pass up as a third item, and i wasnt surprised to see that the Koreans were of the same opinion in the end.

Almost every Xayah i can remember built like that as well, although there were a few oddballs that did rush IE or went BF-zeal item-IE.

It's just the most effective strategy since it has the best powercurve and gives her a good balance of safety and damage.

Without the auto damage enhancement you quickly find yourself sadly very irrelevant quite frequently in the current meta, especially against tanks meant to endure damage from topclass marksmen.

.....

I still play crit MF though^^

I preferred ER>RFC>Shiv>Death's Dance and then whatever I needed afterwards. I liked to go 100% crit/40% CDR so I'd always have mana but couldn't always do that. I just preferred the high feeling of Q>auto>E and kiting them to oblivion rather than hunting them down. It seemed like that playstyle was what they meant for Xayah to be as well but now it's almost like that's gone(Not saying the items were, but the playstyle of kiting backwards instead of chasing forwards and only kiting backwards when you screw up). I'd obviously change my build if I needed to(I had to do the craziest build in existence to deal with this one Rammus, I think it was like bork, mercurial, wit's end, bloodthirster, literally everything with MR/lifesteal I could because that's how much damage he did to me and I was useless against the Cait that could pretty much one shot me). But yeah I've stopped playing her since the auto>Q changes. It feels so bad to play with that auto lockout.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Rammus is the living reason why marksmen feel like they need more damage, sustain and speed xD

Also, more anti tank items.

And Cait was and is (albeit at a later stage in the game now) pretty damn scary when she gets a good headshot-E-Q-AA-R off, that combo does a lot of damage and is difficult to avoid when diving after her.

Completely destroys squishies with her headshot crits+ static crit....and from huge range with RFC.

As for the change to Xay Q casting.....yeah i also kinda miss that to be honest, it felt really smooth to do it and it was easy to setup E from it but we both know how that turned out with the entire "it makes her too easy" thing.

Well.....it might have been justified but it doesnt feel any better x)

Oh she just net>auto'd me and I died. Lol. Literally we were both full build. This was a long time ago though back when Cait was considered strong, but they didn't really nerf her damage, just removed the Runaan's interaction iirc(I believe it was also before Thornmail was nerfed, at least I feel like it was a major nerf. Bramble Vest might be OP but thornmail doesn't feel that great imo, although I could be wrong about it being pre-rework thornmail). The Q change felt so bad. The original Q felt like that's how you were intended to use her. I'm sure there are other ways they could have nerfed her to compensate for that root. E CD could have been one way for example.

He has to be borderline niche or he'll be OP. There's no middle ground, his kit is broken by design. He's, in some ways, a better jack of all trades than Thresh.

okay i wouldn't go THAT far. At least Rakan has to CHOOSE instead of getting the best of all worlds like Thresh does.

Agreed! I just wish that a full ap variant were viable, since anti-meta is sorta my thing.
