It's super hard to notice to Stormraider's compared to Thunderlord's, Grasp etc.

If you proc Thunderlord's you can hear it thundering and you see it coming down from the sky. If you have Grasp stacked you get notified by sound and it also has an animation when you proc it on the enemy.

Stormraider's doesn't really have an animation or sound that you can notice, I'm not even sure if it has anything at all. I think that's pretty lame because it really is an amazing and underrated mastery.

You might say with other masteries like Fervor of Battle it's pretty much the same but I think Fervor is much less of an interactive keystone than for example Stormraider's or Thunderlord's, so you don't really need it. Having that short speed burst is much better to have when you actually know that you have it and you notice it before it's too late.

Edit: There's a typo in the title and I can't do anything about it, this tilts me unbelievably hard.

It's actually really easy to notice.

If you see a pain train called Mordekaiser charging at you with the speed of light you know he just proc'd Stormraider's Surge.

Ralanr38 votes

There's only one pain train and his name is Sion.

Huh, that's a funny way to spell Mordekaiser

I wish some of the well-known boards players would get together for a few matches. Hell, make a post on the boards and then stream it- I bet a lot of people would watch.

Amen, brotha! Preach it!

as someone who mains ryze and aurelion and takes stormraiders+ghost on each i can only help but play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRRJczV85Ts every time i proc it

I think it gives the speed up sound. Honestly it doesn't feel impactful. A think a thunder sound like you're breaking the sound barrier would be cool.

Stormraider's icon shows an assassin sprinting, so I think it makes sense that the mastery isn't loud. Also it's pretty noticeable when you see them charging at you at like 420 speed with no boots.

Malicious Metal22 votes

The funniest thing is that most Assassins don't even use Srs.

Mordekaiser, Nasus, Vlad and Ryze are the prime users of that keystone.

What do you suggest they change? Heavy breaving (or panting), and thunderous footsteps (them dorito feets)?

I think Stormraiders proc should show a nimbus cloud coming underneath you to carry you at the increased speed.

Or give a white version of the item 3742 particle effect.

I'm here being a rebel.....

Diana, Talon, Fiora, Ekko are my top Stormraider champs

It's not as common, but yeah, I see just as many people pull it on assassins as lane bullies.

+1 to remind you of your typo.

Unless you are mordekaiser : ^)

You don't notice your champion running insanely fast?

Epicanian2 votes

You can't notice a sudden massive speed boost?

MontethePython1 votes

I run it on master yi sometimes, so no, it's like the difference between going mach 12 with youmuus and ult and going mach 12.7 with stormraiders + ult plus youmuus. I need a sonic theme song or something when it procs

theArtifacts2 votes

Uh..

There is a sound and a visual as well as a MASSIVE BOOST IN SPEED.

If you're not noticing it, you're not doing enough damage to proc it.

Villainous V2 votes

Really? I think its easy to tell when it's procced because you see a ryze taking off at Mach 5 getting ready to teach a lesson in dunking scrubs.

Weathered1 votes

Stormeaiders just seems underused. Needs a small rework imo ):

Epicanian1 votes

ryze uses it

It's quite good on Shyvana, too. I always run it against hyper-mobile comps.

Use it on Mordekaiser and watch people running away in horror.

I can only think of Aurelion Sol and maybe Talon (Talon being preference).

My problem with it is why take Stormraiders at all when Thunderlords exists in the same tree? In most cases Thunderlords is better. Obviously not all cases but most of the time damage is better than a speed boost. Riot should probably move it to another tree, i'd pick resolve but idk if you really can swap it there unless you remove bond of stone.

NahDogSolRahn1 votes

Syndra this is why its in the same tree.

HateDaddy1 votes

It'd be nice if you had an indicator to know whether or not you're capable of proccing stormraiders on a champion, kinda like ChoGaths spikes under an enemy when his feast can kill them. Granted, it's much easier to probably make that for things like Darius ult/ChoGath ult because they deal true damage so damage reduction and stuff like that never has to be factored in. Just basic math.
