Cho's W vs. Other Cone Skills
I've recently been climbing the ranked 3s ladder with my favorite voidbeast,
. It's been awhile since I've played him, and in that time his W was changed around quite a bit and hit ult was buffed significantly.
Having played him before the W rework, I have to say I understand where the frustration came from: champions would flash / dash out of the skill before it appeared to actually land, leading to what was a perceived "lack of counterplay" (although being able to dash or flash out before it hit was nice, if it wasn't the killing blow). However, this was more of an issue with the animation and delay rather than the skill itself. His W, as it is now, feels super clunky and unforgiving. I'm missing it point blank by champions moving just a few units away during the delay and it gets rather frustrating, since it's already a rather small AoE to begin with.
I have two issues (though they kind of go together):
First of all, why wasn't the animation / delay simply changed to be instantaneous to prevent those flashes and dashes being "wasted"? Kind of feels like the problem
had with his E for awhile.
Second, why was this the only cone-shaped skill changed to have a significant clunky delay when there are a few other similar skills? (
W and
E)
's W has a delay to it, but it was done in such a way that the skill still feels smooth to use. Cho's does not.
As for the ult change... Might honestly be a little broken, but I love being able to stack up and not be punished for deaths. Getting stacks now feels like a reward and not a chore. Cho still has his infinitely shitty early game and utter lack of mobility, but Stormraider's Surge is an absolute blessing for getting on top of squishy laners and nomming on them.
So... TL;DR: Yeah, having fun on my old main, but please just make W a little less wonky. :(
mid. Now you're lucky to ever land a W on him the entire game.
