What is the point of learning harder champions..?

If MasterYi, Garen are so powerful that there is never really any need to learn anything harder? I really do not understand Riot's game design. Surely you want people to progress onto more complex champions, so why are this kept in a reasonably powerful state?

Garen is legitimately one of the worst champions in the game.

Even his OTPs that hit challenger admit this. He's absolute dogshit tier garbage.

Because both of them are crap and only good for stomping Wood V garbos that cant ward, learn from mistakes, have no map awareness, and no idea how to itemize, use crowd control, group?

Yet both have an above 50% winrate in higher elo. Funny that.

because champions who are marketed as being higher skilled get more powerful budgets

Generally speaking, Garen and Master Yi tend to fall off at very high levels of play... but there's nothing wrong with enjoying playing them and playing them as often as you can, even if you are a higher skilled player.

Riot generally encourages players to strive for mastery with all kinds of champions across every position, not just the most complicated champions necessarily.
