Jungler mains. Any reason why you keep taking the laners kills?

AR URF··3 votes·1,421 views

your reward is getting your laners fed and getting the gold from assists IMO. So what's with coming in lane to help your laner out, only to take the kill? Shouldn't you be counter jungling and trying to kill the enemy jungler?

It's especially annoying if I'm having a hard time winning lane and you guys come out to help me, but take the kill. 150 gold vs 300 gold is a big difference. and if my laner gets first blood, that's a 400 gold difference. and early game 400 gold is quite a big difference.

Anyway I'm not here to complain, I just want legit answers. Is it your way of attempting to get mastery rank 7 on your champ? or do you think that getting fed as a jungler is going to somehow increase the chances of winning the game?

If you were having a hard time winning lane, you wouldn't have gotten a solo kill anyway.

I'd take an assist plus CS on my opponent over not having any help at all.

You sound like one of those selfish players who purposely gank when your laner is gone.

How is that a gank when there's only you?

ZT Xperimentor2 votes

That's the point of why it's spiteful. There's some players who purposely wait for their laner to die, then sweep in for an easy kill while denying their ally an assist.

At least vast majority of people never even think about doing something like this, not even your average ragers and trolls. Most of the time it happened as a result of poor communication and map awareness, though I guess some may bite it that it's intentional. Meh.

People actually complain about junglers taking kills? lol All the matters is that the enemy is dead

Eh...arguably no. If I'm playing a carry top and you keep denying my snowball then I'm not going to be as useful as I could be.

Denying snowball? If you can't use the lead from your enemy dying then you don't deserve a kill in the first place

Truly Prideful5 votes

You got an assist, some free cs, turret damage, and an exp lead and that's not good enough? A lot of junglers are pretty good with gold too and they'll use it to snowball the rest of the map.

But don't you think that the extra gold from the kill will mean that the jungler doesn't need to come to my lane anymore? If I'm even on cs and have a lead in gold because of a first blood or because of a kill, than I'm set the rest of the game.

Truly Prideful4 votes

They should still return regardless if the opportunity is there. I'm just saying the gold is no worse on them and you still benefit greatly from the gank even without the kill. Now if the jungler is Ivern or Nunu they should be handing it over unless there's a risk the enemy will escape.

naa mate, junglers are egoistic, greedy bastards. they get kills ganking your lane, they get appetite and they camp the shit out of your opponent.

AlienPrimate1 votes

It doesn't matter who gets kills on your team. No matter who gets the last hit in, everyone on your team benefits. If I'm about to solo kill the top laner and the jungler comes for a gank, I welcome them to take the kill. That turns 300 gold for my team into 450 gold for my team. This is a team game. It is about team gold advantage, not personal gold advantage. Them coming in to kill your opponent sets the enemy back by them missing gold, gives you free cs and an assist, and possibly gives your entire team gold by you getting the tower. I'm a support main and I never stop to give kills under any circumstance. It doesn't matter who gets the kill as long as someone gets it. Any time you basically go afk trying to feed your teammate a kill is a moment that they can flash and get away or even kill someone else on your team. Save your summoner spells and team's lives by using every spell on cooldown and never stop auto attacking in a fight. Anything less is letting the enemy get away some of the time which doesn't contribute to a victory.

KS = kill secured, even if the ADC is just about to solo kill someone and you Q over the wall with Soraka to get that kill secure.

Fuh Queue4 votes

Quick disclaimer, I only read your title.

I do it for a few different reasons.

Me coming to your lane means I'm not spending time in my jungle farming. I could also be using this time to invade and drop wards for my team to track a jungler. I don't do it for spite, I simply use my abilities to confirm a kill at all costs. Whether you get the kill or not, you come out ahead in farm and experience.

I trust myself to use the gold properly, whereas I'm not completely sure if my teammate knows how to use the lead. If my laner is doing well, I'll try my best to pass the kill over.

I value getting the kill more than who actually gets it.

I value the objectives taken after the kill more than kills alone.

Shouldn't you be counter jungling and trying to kill the enemy jungler?

What if you do not have a good duelist champion. What if the ennemy jungle is stronger, or you scale better into late game ?

It's way better to take the kill rather than letting any chance to the ennemy to escape. Also if you kill the ennemy laner solo : 300 gold for you.

If the jungler helps you and take or not the kill : 450 gold for the team.

Stop being selfish, and try to actually understand the game.

its not about kills..its about farm..if i come top regardless who gets the kill, you will have an advantage in xp..which is a pretty good deal early..you hit level 6 first, you have better items etc.

it does not matter who takes the kill

You say you arent complaining, but you are complaining about how it annoys you. If you were having a hard time winning lane, you wouldnt be able to get a kill yourself with the help of your support. And if you were doing well in your lane, a jungler wouldnt probably need to show up in your lane unless another enemy laner is coming to help out your opposing laner.

Like others has said, if he gets the kills, it just means itll give him a more advantage to help out the other lanes to help conquer those lanes. And besides, even though you might not have gotten that kill, you are ahead of CS and exp compared to the other adc. Also you just might even get that tower if you try hard enough. And that just means, the opposing ADC has to play catch up while you are grouping up with your team ripping apart his comrades.

And a secured kill is better than no kill at all. So many times ive seen people try to save the last hit for someone else but the person who theyre saving it for gets cc'd or minion block. Then the easy kill gets away then all effort is lost. GG

I'm not trying to complain. The way I see it is that if I'm having a hard time winning lane or if the jungler comes to my lane and I get the kill, than he doesn't need to be at my lane anymore and can focus on other lanes. My job is to do everything I can to win lane, that's about it. Having the jungler come in and take the kill prevents me from having some kind of lane pressure. If I can get a 500 gold lead on my laner, than I'm set, especially if it's someone I counter.

Variks the Loyal3 votes

One, if it's someone you counter, you shouldn't be having a hard time in lane like you describe.

Two, a jungle can snowball a game much more effectively. You getting a lead is limited to your lane. A jungler can apply the lead everywhere on the map.

Three, you shouldn't rely on your jungler to snowball you.

Four, a jungler is not limited to a single gank. If the opportunity presents itself, repeatedly coming to the lane frustrates the opponent and keeps both you and your jungler ahead.

Five, and lastly, just getting a kill doesn't secure the lead. The jungler needs to help you push the wave afterwards to deny the enemy CS, which adds up to more than a single kill.

Do not just think about your lane. Think about the other lanes too. You are the back line and almost all of the time, the jungler and top laner are the front line. If they dont have the benefit to withstand holding the front line, the enemy team will just quickly wipe them out and come for you and you will be losing team fights even if you are "winning" lane. You may be the carry, but the carry is nothing if there isnt any teammates to help defend you. It should be enough that even though you didnt get that kill from that gank, you are still ahead of CS and with that assist and you will probably have the first tower gold if you get it. You ahead of CS means the enemy laner is behind from dying meaning you still have the one item or two more advantage.

Sometimes its better for the enemy jungler to have it because it benefit's the other two lanes to help the other lanes be ahead of their opposing laner. Instead of just one person. Think about it though, the jungler is giving up his farming time to help you make the enemy fall behind. For who knows what, the jungler can be that person who farms all game while you are struggling to stay even with your opposing laner.

Worry about getting the kills later. If the enemy is giving you a hard time because they keep pushing up the lane and zoning you out from getting CS, only worry about working as a team to get them behind. You may still still be thinking, "but 300 gold vs 150 gold". But you still have the CS coming in while your enemy laner is waiting to spawn and you have the tower to get gold from if you destroy it.

It really isnt that complicated but im making it look like it the way im trying to explain it to you. Bottom line is, dont just think about yourself, think about whats best for the team to win, you guys killed the opponents, so now you can push up the lane to get objectives. Getting kills doesnt guarantee wins. If your team cant help themselves, they cant help you.

And im not trying to say, the jungler should get the kill all the time if they come gank for you. But if they do get the kill, just think about it that way.

I can agree with you here. For me my CS has improved quite a bit in the last month because how much I play, but on those games that I don't do well in the CS I personally believe that I deserve the kill. I can understand champs such as Rengar or MasterYi who would benefit a lot from the kill.

SEKAI2 votes

You are both having at it on someone, swinging away, whoever gets the killing blow, gets it, the other one has assist anyway so it's really not like it matters.

Not to mention, have you ever had the scenario where you purposely go easy because you want to give kill to somebody else and that resulted in the said opponent running away because of it?

And it's not like the gold is just gone if it goes to the jungler. They would have those extra gold. The gold is still there, and the enemy is still behind. What's there to complain about? They may come to gank you more often, or that they may get better at ganking other lanes due to those extra gold, whatever. Again, what's there to complain about, on who receives the gold?

It really doesn't matter who gets the kill as long as assists are being had on the side. It really isn't going to have a anything substantial on your "chances of winning" even if you just get an assist from a gank, let's face it, because the gold advantage is obviously there, just not on you. The only thing it really is going to have an effect on is when you have a big ego with that sort of thing.

Some junglers are carry junglers that rely more on getting themselves fed than their laners.

Shahamut1 votes

It's not a problem if they take the kill. I'm a top lane main, and you have to build your advantage off a lot more than just enemy laner deaths. As a laner, it's my job to do what I can to build advantages for either myself or my team.

If the jungler gets the kill, it's fine. They get the extra power to influence more of the map than just your one lane.

No matter who gets the kill, it's only a problem if they don't make good use of it.

It is a problem if one of you died in the process, that the enemy laner is 1/1/0 while your jungler becomes 1/0/0 (you died) or 1/1/0 (he died). In either case, you only got the assist gold, while the enemy laner got kill gold, meaning he still holds the gold advantage to beat you in lane (even if you didn't die). In this case, him getting the kill is actually bad for your lane compared to you getting it, since it would had made your lane still even, at least.

Shahamut1 votes

Still not a huge lead, not one that caps the lane by any means. Farm up. It's still not your junglers fault.

Oh, not saying it's his fault. Just saying for those junglers who go "we got him once, you're ahead now so I'm not coming back" that while the team got an advantage overall, the lane did not actually "win". You are right though, that it is slight.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Also, if you've already died, they may figure that the gold is just more effective on them. And, given that many people are ignorant of minion taxing and just flame the jg for taking 3 cs, it's better to just take the kill and not tax.

Protokai1 votes

150 free gold is still a lot then most junglers don't tax so you also have a wave or 2 of minions for gold and exp advantage. So if your able to cs 6 minions a 60 gold for melee and 42.5 for caster minions early game so effectively you should be getting about 252 gold anyways and denying your opponent a wave of minions so growing your gold lead by the amount of another 102 gold if you deny them a wave and getting XP so you have level advantages to press.

however junglers are not gaining all that much (from a greedy standpoint) for ganking for you they could be clearing camps and getting more gold and levels for themselves. in fact they put their own farm at risk because when a high elo jungler sees that they are ganking top and he is in bot-side jungle he will go into your jungle and steal your camps. With the longer respawn time on said camps counter jungling hurts a lot more now.

Also there are a large amount of carry junglers in the game ATM for example lee sin and kha are the 2 most played champions in the jungle, and getting them snowballing can close games out pretty early. + The impact the entire map a lot more than you as a laner do most of the time so it is easier for them to make use of the kill than it would be for a top laner without tp(it on CD or you took ignite)

Sure if he gives you the kill it is nice esp if your a snowball champion but it shouldn't be considered the thing that junglers should only do there are advantages and disadvantages to them taking the kill and them giving it to you.

@thread

So.... the gist im getting from this thread and a lot of the posts within is that junglers arent important and exist only to be supports for their laners? Well. I guess thats marksman logic applied to other roles at its finest. If you whine about the jungler getting a kill or taxing your lane, you need to grow the frag up. You have a lane, double the junglers gold, almost double the junglers XP, and almost any jungle pressure usually wins lane.

If the jungler takes the kill he shouldn't tax. If the laner gets the kill he should tax. Simple rule of equal income.

Simple rule of hurry up so we can take the tower and stop trying just to last hit. Nuke that wave.

Lauchmelder1 votes

It's not always the best option to take a tower after the kill.

Obviously sometimes you want your jungler to help you shove in the lane (when you're oom for example) but more often than not it doesn't matter.

We can do this if our ADC is close or the tower only has little HP left, but in nearly every other scenario it doesn't help your laner.
