Veigar Talk

I want to just say "STFU" but that is very broad, is unclear, and leaves no room for discussion, not to mention very closed minded.

Honestly you people need to realize what the hell balancing is for and as much as having a champion remain enjoyable for the user balancing is also about having the champion enjoyable when playing against that champion as well. For Veigar they did try to fix the issues of instant stun since that is not fun to play against and as a long standing Veigar main I fully knew Veigar needed to be dealt with with all his point and clicks and instant long duration stun, but the stun duration was not so long that it could get nerfed and the cooldown was not so short that that needed a nerf either, but something needed to be done with the spell in terms of balancing and Riot for the most part did a very good job with this and ended up buffing it quite nicely while fixing its core fundamental issues of being a poor spell when against it (now if only they deal with champions like Katarina, Irelia, Leblanc, and Fizz who has high mobility, high damage, and little to no counter play at all and Irelia case she just has everything but I digress).

Something I do need to mention is that I really do enjoy Veigar's post changes, once Baleful Strike's range has been increased slightly it will make him feel a a lot better for that spell in particular because right now the spell does feel it comes just shy of your target in a lot of scenarios. For Event Horizon's delay, just get used to it, I adapted to it very well probably because of my long time mastery on Veigar, but overall just use the spell as a trap even if you are only using it to set up plays for your teammates (as a support Veigar this is great) or saving an ally and if you have champions like an Orianna, Wukong, Amumu, Galio, Jarvan, Lee Sin (kick them to get stunned), etc the spell is superior just as a trap. The spell not only has its cooldown reduced by 2 seconds but the downtime also decreased because the trap's duration went from 3 to 3.75 seconds.

Overall, be less close minded and realize both what balancing is meant to do for the game overall and directly Veigar related note get used to the changes and realize the power the tiny master of evil has. Even though I recommend him being played as a support, his mid lane play did improve greatly post changes and people honestly need to get their minds out of the bronze plated gutter, idiotic thinking, and realize that balancing is meant to you know balance the game and make it more enjoyable for people to play the game.

This has been your public service announcement! ~ Stacona

P.S. Rito pls deal with Katarina, Irelia, Leblanc, Zed, Annie, etc and the likes of these champions; it is just frustrating playing against them and I want to feel like it is a fair, skill match-up where any champion can beat any champion and not yelling "BULL SH1T" when they kill me instead of what more fair match-ups like Syndra or Karthus where if I die it is clearly both they out played me or I messed up in a logical sense, and not illogical "BULL SH1T" of Leblanc one-shotting you 2000 units away from the fog of war (not to mention you cannot even Flash to break the chains, which Flash). I don't want to be forced to play safe champions like Ziggs and use utterly max range bombs just to farm, but even playing Ziggs I want to feel like I can get in and scrap with my opponent and not being a scared, passive b1tch because these champions have too much mobility and too much damage (and even have too much damage even if they didn't have their mobility) and Annie's case she just instantly stuns you and kills you with no real way to react at all. But this post script is really just me venting my anger in random words and such...

Idk about u but I think VEIGAR should get mana back for last hitting minions with his q

I think the passive buff will be sufficient enough, he does not have terrible mana problems unless he spams q and with the passive buff being increased by 50% would really help him harrass as support and ap farm as mid

people saying "better than before" mean to say - "ohmg one time, veigar killed me, and i couldnt build QSS GA banshees veil, flash, cc, mr/health because i wanted to go full ad. with 1600health and were 45mins into the game.......

rito nerf plox."

thats literally all i hear from any of you. none of you understand how weak he really was, he could only kill one of you, now hes out of the fight. you had the ability to completely destroy him and negate him from a fight if you just built any of those items and dove him.

lets not forget the sliver of a stun it was, a skill shot at that too. the long CD, the low mobility champion.

veigar had so much counterplay.

The mind of a bronze player right here ^ very unaware of balancing...

As long as Veigar has his ultimate he can one shot you, and his damage has not been changed at all. Veigar had no counter play and I played many games on him, buys items is not counter play and that is horrible balancing tactics, counter play is being able to beat champion vs champion through skill match ups [champions like leblanc, zed, katarina, irelia, annie need to be dealt with too and should have been higher priority than Veigar]

oh im sorry, were 50mins+ into the game and veigar was allowed to get over 400 bonus AP farm. at which point he was allowed to "one shot" the adc with 1200+550+0 much more favorable than tank nasus, at least he is killable.

thinking like yours, "one mid set, i must build these items on this champ" is the backwards thinking that forced riot to make this kind of change.

sorry - tanks, hook, leona ult, nami wave, yasuo windwall, fizz trickers, zhonyas, zed ult, fiddle silence, vi ult, poke from nidalee/jayce/xerath/leblanc insta gib, mordekaiser, syndra stun, zilean ult, anivia/zac/aatrox passives, all of you are worthless nope, all of you are NOT viable counters to an entire champion. sorry those aforementioned items dont exist, and dont destroy veigar. WE MUST play my way or else its clearly broken OP.

edit, just checked you out on lolking, under 60cs average, clearly played him as support and not ap mid. in what way do you think veigars lane is easy?

he is a counterpick to an ap mid laner no different than lissandra is to top, annie sup is all around better than veigar support.

any adc/master yi/fiora/leesin/riven/tryndamere/xinzhao/zed/talon all tried to kill a rammus, they all failed, i wonder if rammus is broken enough to warrant nerfing.

he can one shot anyone as soon as he hits 6

apply math here. he full combo'd an enemy ap mid laner at level 6 for just over 700damage + ignite damage. for 800~ heimer has one of the lowest base health pools, of 476 +75 per level, that gives him 926 health at level 6. if a heimer has over 200ap at level 6 call me impressed. and that took veigar all of his mana and depended on him landing the stun. what you people aren't grasping is veigar cant lane, he could only pick. no stun? apply pressure. stun available? check his mana pool.

that calc didn't even take into consideration an enemy mid laners 42MR, (about 31% magic damage reduction). veigar loses lane, always, push him in and make him horribly lose farm. ward your side lanes and veigar is toast.

If you play the champ then you would know your limits and be able to assess whether you can kill your opponent or not- play the game and get experience and I can tell you right now Veigar has ZERO problems killing who he wants dead

my skill, allows me to land the stun a large amount of the time, the other times i simply die. their negligence to any sort of MR build or item build adaptation allows me to wipe the floor with them. i play veigar mid, i know what works and what doesn't, you played him as support and depended on your adc to put out the damage for you, you weren't required to do anything. anything else you did on top of the stun was just kill secure, what annie does, but more reliably and puts out more damage than veigar.

Veigar's stun was not toxic, and building MR or Banshees or tenacity or QSS is an easy counter. But if I were to agree with you that his Stun was toxic, then why did they keep it a stun at all? Why not just change the ability completely?

The answer is that his KIT requires it. Why have a delay on dark matter? Why make him so Squishy? Why does he not have any mobility at all? Why give him a mana regen passive? He has all these so he can play the role of the anti-mage mage, he has a mana regen passive so he can focus on AP, and the Stun is what glued the whole thing together. Now he effectively has no stun, therefore the rest of his kit doesn't work to it's design. If he's supposed to be a support mage then there are better suited champs, if he's supposed to be a poke mage again there are many that are better suited. If he's supposed to be a burst mage, there are now many who are better suited. etc etc.

So they should either give him his old stun back or change it entirely, to something like viktor's stun trap where you no longer have to land the EDGE of the spell on someone but instead you get an area.

Veigar is in a healthier space for everyone except veigar players. In support role, he will be in a pretty decent spot after the E changes are fully implemented. As a mid champ, he is unusable. There is nothing positive about trapping someone inside the cage because your damage cannot follow up. If the point was for him to be a support, then he is in a great spot. But he is not. He was created to be a mid. The changes that MOST people are asking for (not all. Some wont be happy unless he gets his old E back. That would be dumb because it was very toxic) is basic reliability. We just want a mid veigar to be able to make good plays, not rely on his enemy making mistakes. He is currently not in a good place. Any veigar main (mid) will know this. Yes the balancing team has been at work. And we need to give them time, but a lot of us are scared. Everyone said that 5.4 was too much, but were unheard. And so now we are being even louder. Especially because the changes that need to be made are not happening (more reliable W. Updated passive. Maybe something with R. And the biggest thing, a reason that trapping someone in the cage is beneficial. He needs a cohesive kit.)

So while you have the right to try and silence people, you are wrong in representing the Veigar community. I will not speak for support Veigars, so you should not speak for the mid veigar, who is in a terrible spot.

Veigar was never a great solo laner, but he is BETTER than pre-changes - This said I never said he is good mid lane just better than what he was before, also his damage has never been lowered, it takes about 20 double Qs to equalize the damage of the old ult ratio which is not hard to do and something easily obtainable before you hit 6.

W is pretty reliable, just need to know how to use it and when.

I am not trying to represent anyone, but it is annoying hearing people constantly whining and complainging about the changes when you are a Veigar main yourself long before all these "veigar mains" showed up out of no where like he was some kind of super popular champion before which he wasn't.

Veigar's kit is cohesive, his passive allows for Q farming (which they are buffing btw) - the passive and range buff helps both support and mid veigar - while his trap helps land his W when they are in it and not stunned, you just need to force your opponent into bad decisions and in a way 'exploit' your trap - plus the team synergy with both AoE and/or displacement spells

Well, I respect that you are a long standing veigar main, but you are wrong. Before I continue, I will let you know I have mained Veigar since season 2. I may not be the best, but i have a lot of experience with him.

Veigar is not better than pre changes. This is absolutely wrong (healthier for the game? yes. Nothing else). Not only is this reflected in win rate and comments by much better players than anyone here (DaBox for example), but it is also realized in common sense. Veigar has lost reliability and damage since his "rework," but gained very little back. All his original weaknesses are still there and have only been added to. Trapping someone inside the cage was always considered "missing." This reason being that in order for the W to hit, the opponent needed to be stunned. Them also being able to move allowed them to fight back, which was almost always a lost skirmish for Veigar. Now they have made his stun very un-reliable. While it is very easy to trap immobile targets inside the cage (anyone with a jump or blink WILL leave the cage before it triggers), there is no benefit for to catching them inside it.

W is reliable. It will reliably miss if your opponent is paying any sort of attention. It takes up less than 9% of the inside of Event Horizon and takes almost twice as long as a cho'gath rupture to trigger. It has high damage, but SHOULD only hit if the opponent is CC'ed.

Veigar's q is getting a 50 range buff. not much of a buff, honestly. And as for Q farming, this is another area i find you borderline clueless in. Veigar cannot afk Q farm. Unlike Nasus top, who has sustain and tankiness, as well as a much more reliable way of farming, Veigar cannot be so passive. A good Veigar player uses his Q to harass, otherwise they will be eaten alive in lane. You can bring up that A Veigar should just farm under tower, but even that does not work for multiple reasons. The Q hits twice. that means it will push your lane. The other thing is that applying no lane pressure and allowing the wave to push against you lets your opponent roam. It is a team game, This will likely not work for your team. As for the 20 double hits solving all AP troubles, thats just plain wrong. You need to remember that the nerf happened to the ult BECAUSE of the q "buff." Not only is it physically impossible to get that pre level 6 (look it up), but it does not take into equation the rest of your AP scaling. for every 100 AP, you need more than 20 double hits to compensate for it. And I say more than because they also nerfed the Q's cooldown at max rank. There is a lot more math that goes into this than you realize.

So lets go over things that you are correct about. W and E are great in team fights. Ummmm. F*** yeah they are. Especially when E stops dashes. But you cannot ignore the phase where they are borderline useless before team fight phase. W is great when the opponent cannot see it coming. It is also great for checking bushes and scouting. But, Yeah that's it. You clearly do not play against many great players because the strengths you provided are actually reliant on weaknesses of others. Even if you are amazing at predicting paths of people these problems are solved by simply warding and positional awareness. In fact, that is probably the biggest problem with veigar overall, now. You cannot win. The only thing that can happen is that your opponent loses. I am very surprised to see you be platinum ranked. especially with such a negative Win loss ratio. I can only guess how you got there. But in the things you have stated, you have shown a very clear lack of understanding of the middle lane. Especially that which veigar plays.
