The bigger things is communication, openness, and understanding. Cheesy sounding, I know, but it is how confidence and trust form and allow communities and companies to operate better.
Repoitoir has built up a lot of trust over his handling of the reworks. He has communicated his ideas and plans well, he has been open to feedback and critique, and has been understanding when people are upset or flustered and acknowledges it. This in turn builds confidence and trust in the community for him, allowing them to be more understanding to problems, open to his ideas, and allow for better communication and feedback.
The biggest problem is saying nothing, to leave everyone guessing, letting people steep in their frustration, causing them to lose confidence and in turn, trust. Communities and companies have died because of such a mindset.
In the end, the person with the power has to be the one to take the lead and open dialogs, even if that means taking everyone's rage and frustration to the face and not making any excuses for it, but accepting it and acknowledging it.
You may say it is unreasonable, but CEOs and company presidents have done just this, just sat in a room with their employees just berating them, getting everything off their chest, and the CEO/president taking these critiques and offenses and, with the help of a consultant, finding the root of the problems and working through them to make a better company.
