Ryze' indentity?

Is his identity just a spam mage fighter thing? I'm just curious why that concept hasn't changed in a while, and if it's even a good identity.

you don't change the identity of a champion when reworking them the community will completely fucking destroy you if you do so.

Poppy did OK.

To be fair, as a character she never had much of an identity to begin with. As for playstyle identity, it's pretty much the same.

She was the ultimate lategame assassin. No one had the same kind of 1v5 diving power old Poppy had.

Which she still has.

No, she does not, not even close. New Poppy is susceptible to cc, can be damaged by the entire enemy team instead of only one opponent, she doesn't have the burst damage potential to delete a champion even if building full damage (which also means that she's not tanky enough to dive like that).

You mistake a playstyle identity with the changing of some mechanics. Changing her practical invincibility is merely something to work around, because she still is Poppy. She still has quite a bit of damage to her name, she still can focus down someone and remove them from the fight, she still is Poppy. Not dealing AS MUCH DAMAGE and being UNKILLABLE just shifts things around a bit. But a Poppy is still a horrible thing to see coming for you Late Game.

thats because she had no identity. her playerbase was nonexistant. she is still tanky, has a wall stun, and a game changing ult

she is still tanky

She was not tanky at all before, she was best off building straight damage

and a game changing ult

It's game changing in a completely different fashion. That's like saying Ashe and Ekko have similar identities because they both have strong ults.

right. ignore the part about identity.

i remember playing her before and you still had to build tanky. A meelee charater will always have to build at least some tank.

okay you got me there.

Pretty much. Does not stop them from trying.

From what I understand he wasn't ever super popular. So a hard rework could really work in his favor.

Marshbouy1 votes

kinda like the update going live tomorrow?

LatetotheRace1 votes

I've already played him, and he's not really that different. He still spams, gets a shield to support him spamming more. Only thing that's changed is his new weird ult. #Playmaker. Can't wait to see it throw games though lol.

it is a hard rework. i am assuming you dont know anything about what RIOT goes for when reworking? becuase their number one goal is to make a champion more fun or less toxic and update their kit while not ruining their playstyle and identity.

I thought you would talk about he identifies himself as a girl.

His identity is Medivh. Plain and simple. BWAA HAA.

My only issue with Ryze is his mana scaling. I understand that it is a unique gameplay mechanic that only he has, but considering the number of characters that benefit from item 3070 (Cassiopeia Ezreal Jayce just to name a couple) he is the only one that does more damage the more he stacks it. Literally every trade of his will do more damage before he even leaves lane whereas any other champ has to back and buy items to do more damage for the next trade. Don't get me wrong I know he's not impossible to beat, but I think having damage scale off of mana is a little broken in a way.
