This new Azir is more oppressive to play against than the old Azir

As an immobile caster, there's zero counter play to him ulting you out into the middle of the lane from 1300 range. With the added bonus that he now always gets the shield after shoving you into the middle of the lane, where as before he generally wouldn't hit you with his dash, making his dives safer.

These changes did nothing but fuck with bad Azirs and further fuck over immobile casters.

So a mobile champ bopped you during the level 6 all-in that basically happens every game in mid lane regardless of which champions you play, unless it was like...TF vs Taliyah.

The range reduction means he can't poke me down from a million miles away and has to actually get in range of my own skillshots. I'd say for that alone the rework is a success. Mostly because I fry him with my eyeball laser.

As somebody who plays Azir,

A good Velkoz makes me sad.

He doesn't need to, because he can just drift behind you and safely shove you into his jungler while simultaneously blocking you from returning to safety every time his ult is up.

I'd rather have him trying to poke me than all-in'ing me under my turret with no way for me to respond. The changes basically buffed the shit out of his all-in, while reducing his poke.

K, just gonna say this once.

His range being lowered like it has means he has to get much closer to Shurima Shuffle, which means he's in range for retaliation.

simultaneously blocking you from returning to safety every time his ult is up.

It was worse prerework, you can actually dash over the wall now.

with no way for me to respond.

There's always a way to respond. If he waits for your cooldowns before doing it, then he played smart.

Old Azir did this too. Additionally, new Azir's Shuriman Shuffle range is a lot shorter.

Tbh, his shield is still non-noticeable, except saving himself from being killed by the last tick of Ignite.

New Azir's combo is something like 75 shorter (which is still longer than everything but Lux and Xerath), it does a fuckton more damage, and he can do it more often. You're neglecting all of this. You could at least retaliate against him with the old one, because it was easy to sidestep the soldiers and not let them all hit you for long.

Also note that his Q from two or more soldiers doesn't deal additional damage anymore, so you might want to tone down that "fuckton damage".

But I don't know if you even want to take discussions like this seriously anyway. 90% of your threads are nothing but whine anyway.

The soliders clump, so they all hit you multiple times, rather than the two on the sides hitting you only once, and he has increased attack speed, so the follow up Arise after he pushes you hits you significantly more times. The damage isn't the Q.

As an immobile caster,

Well there's your problem right there. He is mobile and you're not. That's it.

What your title should say is "Azir is oppressive to play against as an immobile caster with no answer to his mobility, if he happens to have my range." Because long range immobile stuff bully him harder than before.

I feel it's hard to play aggressive into him because his soldiers are up more often. With the old Azir I feel the chances to fight back were very clear but now I'm just too scared to do anything because his all in is very strong.

^ THIS. At level 1 he always has at least one soldier at his disposal, and can have up to 3 at a time if he holds onto them. It's ridiculous. His Q cooldown isn't even really that long either. It just feels hopeless to fight him as anything but a counterpick.

Also they poke range in his soldiers was increased so even you gotta play even further away from them. If he puts them on your range creeps than you gotta just walk away. He's kinda like Cassiopeia except he has more pressure.

I dont think the problem is that he is become more oppressive, but he is just easier to play, meaning lower skilled players can make his oppressive shine through more.

Why don't you try playing him, half of whst you said isn't even true.

Honestly don't see it. He has clear weaknesses but no one has even seen Azir in like 2 years so no one remembers how to lane against him nor do they know the new ways to beat him which do exist. He isn't OP, just strong. I don't see any reason to start nerfing him either when we got new runes coming which do create a sizable nerf bucket coming to him and many mages. Remember, Riot doesn't want to make any big changes to champions unless they are cancerously broken because runes will have a sizable affect on everyone.

Uh? His pick rate is around 10% and climbing. You see him/have seen him outside of low elo fairly often.

His pick rate is 6.52% when I checked and prior to that I cannot honestly remember the last Azir I saw. He was so unplayable unless you one-tricked him that he appears almost never. People aren't used to see him as much and that will mean people have to relearn the match-ups. Along with having to learn what he does now.

Give it a bit. He isn't broken at all. Maybe a little strong but that may change as runes come.
