I tried it in a match just now after seeing it listed on a build somewhere. It seemed okay, the extra burst damage was very helpful and got me a few kills, and a bit of AP for my W is nice to have. But not sure if it's actually a good idea or if I just had a lucky match.

FireWaterAirEart1 votesYes,the item is good, but it still has some kind of a situational character,similarly to the blade of the ruined king. At first, if u don't manage to detonate blight, it will be a bit useless on Varus. If the enemy team has too much magic resist, it also may not be the best choice-Galio,Ornn and dr. Mundo may not feel much pain from blight. For the ap...it isn't so important what exactly u are building. The best results,as i know, are given from the hybrid Varus, which means u are free to build both ad and ap on this champion. It is the most suitable marksman for ap/ad/as mix that i know.
