Fiddlesticks Going Into Preseason- Potential Struggles

Currently on the PBE, there are ton of changes that actually hurt Fiddlesticks.

1. Camp respawn timers have been increased Fiddlesticks really cannot gank effectively pre-6 and relies on his enemies to make a mistake and over extend to be able to gank a lane. With increased respawn timers on camps, it will take Fiddlesticks even longer to hit Level 6 due to it now being hard to just rotate around the Jungle until Level 6 since monsters have to be alive to get EXP.

2. Red and Blue Buff Are Now Alone That means only one potential tick of E damage against them. This SEVERELY slows down Fiddlestick's clear time since it adds 2 more camps that he can't effectively use E on on top of Gromp and Scuttle Crab.

3. Raptors Having More Targets Actually Hurts Slightly Fiddlesticks is weird to where he is a single target Jungler yet he needs at least 2 targets there for maximum damage. The more units needed the more W cool downs he has to wait for basically and the less damage spread by E. Unless Fiddle's E is one shotting the mini-birds, this hurts him.

4. Krugs Is Like Raptors But Worse The Krugs change actually hurts Fiddlesticks as well. Since it takes time for mini-krugs to spawn off bigger ones, Fiddlesticks can't perform some fancy E interaction to clear them stupid quick. He has to use W and E, wait for the smaller krugs to spawn, then use his WE on them again, now being 3 targets instead of 2. This continues on. Basically, due to the spawn animation on Krugs, Fiddlesticks once again has his clear time slowed down.

5. (Minor) Blast Cones Add a Potential Interrupt to Fiddlesticks W Not huge, but this is something.

6. (Minor) Rylai's Nerfs Fiddlesticks is someone who usually uses Rylai's to synergize with his ultimate and any nerfs to it are nerfs to him.

7. (Unsure if Nerf) Abyssal Scepter Change I'm actually not sure if this is a nerf, but the Abyssal Scepter changes seem to overall be a nerf since it's effectiveness decreases the more Magic Resist someone has. I know it's countered by the overall less MR due to the Aegis Aura removal, but it seems to have been nerfed overall.

Basically, the Preseason Jungle changes are a huge clear speed nerf to Fiddlesticks. His clear time is a lot longer due to how he works mechanically and he will likely suffer more than he currently does, his win rate having dropped from 54% to 49% over the last couple patches despite having a fairly small and dedicated player base (according to champion.gg, the most dedicated Jungler play base out there). I would recommend Riot and the community if possible keep a close eye on the scarecrow so that he isn't hurt too much (hopefully not at all).

  1. I highly doubt they would nerf jungling that hard as a whole as to keep the same exp but up timers.
  2. Agree with that, maybe if it bouced between him as well?
  3. might not be an issue, wait and see
  4. mini krugs die to a single aa 5 and 6)
  5. Inceased dmg by 10% vs flat reduction is more up to math. Although if your worried its not good vs targets stacking mr neither was the old abysall.

Only 2 seems like a serious nerf in clear speed.

  1. Hopefully you are correct. I am unsure if they "up'ed" the EXP values for monsters, but it is a nerf if they didn't.
  2. That would be cool if it was like old Ryze E.
  3. Yeah, I need to go and test it to confirm but Fiddlesticks is weird like that to where he doesn't like TONS of units since his E has a limit to bounces and he likes it if it bounces to the same target at least once.
  4. I'm aware, but Big Krugs splits into two Medium krugs, so the death interrupting his tether puts it on cool down. It might not be super huge, but it still makes his Krugs clear worse than it was before since before it was arguably his fastest camp.

I'm unsure if Abyssal is a nerf or not, need some math guy to check. Especially in the late game since Abyssal is usually a mid-late game item on Fiddle. Also, any nerfs aren't good since Fiddle isn't an oppressive champion right now and no other preseason changes seem to compensate him.
