So what are the next big things being considered post midseason update

Shadow Hazard··2 votes·473 views

With the new client out and the midseason update about to be released, not including bug fixes for the client and balance changes for outliers created by the midseason changes; what does the community want to see in the next blog post.

Things I can think of...

  • what are the groups being considered for the next roster update?
  • will runes be on the table to get the update for preseason, if not when is the rough goal?
  • 10 bans?

What other big points is the community looking to have touched on?

I think divers are next, with enchanters after. They seem like the big groups that need it the most.

I hope they update runes next preseason. It feels archaic.

10 bans should be soon.

I hope enchanter's, or even supports in general, are after the divers. The itemization is being crowded out.

While I'm not a Rioter, I know some things Riot was talking about a while ago and on the page for the tank update that can answer all 3 of these questions.

Next update will likely be diver-type fighters (think Aatrox and Nocturne). I'm guessing this because they were planned to be the midseason update this year initially, but they decided on tanks instead.

From the Looking Forward section of the tank update page (here: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/midseason-2017), "HONOR UPDATE

We’re currently working on a significant overhaul to the Honor system, due to ship later this year.

The current Honor system doesn’t really reinforce how valuable teamwork is. The new system is designed to be much more integrated with the actual experience of the game, featuring greater incentives and rewards for players who are consistently honorable.

10 BANS

When the 10 ban format comes to regular play, it’ll look different than what you’ve been seeing in the pro scene. There are some fundamental differences in how bans are used between the two scenarios, so we’ll be adapting the system based on the needs of matchmade games.

In the regular play system, we want to make sure we give all players equal agency (everyone gets a ban) while keeping champion select fair (where it doesn’t matter where you end up in the pick order). If possible, we’ll also be cutting down on champ select’s overall length. Expect to see more shortly after midseason.

Once 10 bans launches, you’ll need to own 20 or more champions to play ranked (up from 16). We’ll be running an IP boost weekend very soon to give you the chance to make up the difference.

TEAM COMPETITION

Playing League with friends in Normals or Ranked Flex is one thing, but we think there’s an opportunity to add a new competitive experience into League, one different from the now-retired Ranked Teams queue. We want organized teams to compete for rewards, but include and appeal to players of all skill levels.

Think something along the lines of forming a team with your friends and entering an amateur tournament together, where the stakes, intensity and rewards are ramped way up! We’re still working out exactly what this looks like, so stay tuned."

I know that they plan on updating the Runes, and I believe Meddler may have talked about this on one of the posts he makes every couple of days over in the Dev Corner, but I'm not sure when this is planned to be. Possibly in the preseason or even before.

Divers, and these guys in particular are in a need for a big changes: Volibear XinZhao Aatrox MonkeyKing I cant see Riot postponing changes to them for any longer, I'm even surprised they decided to go with tanks earlier over them, but I think they wanted to come up with something big-ish for midseason, and Diver update for me looks like the most complex yet. Lets hope they nail it.
