Is there a way we could see Bard's Tether range on his Q?

Is it just me or does Bard's tether seem really inconsistant as to how far it will go? I swear it feels like my Stun has no range when i fire it point blank and at other times it feels like it goes way too far. could we get more clarity on how far it takes the tether to stun?
