he's currently leveling from pre 30 and is saying he's seeing plats and diamonds pitted against him in games. someday I hope to train him so we can duo but I don't know how well I can convince him to keep playing if this is the bullshit he's being pitted against.

I play with a group of friends every day, consisting of myself, a Plat pal, and three pre 30s so we can show them the ropes. Yes, when they play with me and our Plat friend, they get in matchups they struggle with. But when they play alone, they usually see Bronze matchups, high silver at the absolute worst.
AmetDeCrypt1 votesI dunno. it alternates between ranked players and bots. sometimes a mix of the two. how would he have his mmr spiked. I mean he plays with me and I'm around silver??? maybe low gold but I play with a seperate account so he doesn't have to play against the players I do.

AmetDeCrypt1 voteswell from my experience he really isn't. he found trynamere and stuck with him and feeds half his games and wins the others against the bots.

AmetDeCrypt1 votesI'm slowly gearing him into shen/jarvan/rek'sai tanky dps style play and weaning him off of spamming clicks so fast he keeps cancelling his skills. you ever seen a trynd miss an ult cause it didn't get the space to register between button presses? eventually I'm gonna get him a bunch of adc so we could even duo lane together, I'd love having a bot laner that knows what I want to do ahead of time so I don't have to rely on some crazy random playstyle synnergy of a god tier adc main to stop me dying alone when I initiate.

Part of a combination of variance in individual performances together with a lot of the general tendency for advantages to snowball and tilt things further in the favor of those who are ahead. (Many a pro game ends with the winning team never losing an inhibitor and having less than half the champ deaths of the losers and at that level, things are pretty close in terms of skill between the teams and individual players).
