I do like flashy characters but...

LegacyDAP··89 votes·5,761 views

Do you think we could have them more skillful, and more rewarding to be good with?

I love Orianna, and she does this really well. I wouldn't call her broken, but when she does a really good ultimate it looks so cool, and is devastating for the other team. She doesn't even have mobility, she just has 1 major part to her kit to make her very strong, and that's her ult. She fits with a lot of good comps, but not every comp. She feels like the most perfected flashy character in the game.

Can we please have more champions like Orianna

**EDIT: **Wow I didn't expect all the upvotes. I'm glad other people agree with me on this.

Riot stop overloading all the new champions with a bunch of good things, and make them really good at one particular thing.

**EDIT 2: **I haven't gotten upvotes on threads like this in forever. Anyways, I don't know if Orianna is that OP like some of you are saying. She obviously has strengths and weaknesses, most champions do, but I find Ori to have a lot of strenghts AND a lot of weaknesses, because of the ball. Literally it's all about the positioning, and if you can't capitalize on how she positions the ball then that's why you can't capitalize on her in general

Orianna Riven

Bring back Xypherous, pls.

LegacyDAP5 votes

Eh. It doesn't need to be Xypherous. He makes some good champions, but also some bad ones. Love/hate relationship.

I have long since forgiven him for Fizz.

fair enough upvoted.

Lissandra I think she's in the same boat as Orianna, same for Syndra. Seriously they're both so slick af you don't even care when they kill you cuz they do it with style.

Penns37 votes

I mean I kinda care when Syndra basically oneshots me with ult :[

LegacyDAP2 votes

True haha. However, Syndra is pretty weak early, and I think her late game makes up for it. Because she should be able to one-shot at that point. If she is in the back not getting caught.

HadesBlades10 votes

Syndra is actually the weakest late of all champs. Tanks with mercs can roll over her immobility, and her ultimate is pretty easy to stop with just a banshees, or some basic mr. And if there is a syndra then there is usually a ageis to stop even more ap from hurting a carry. Syndra needs the game to end before 30mins or her damage becomes nothing to fighters/tanks. Thats why there has been so much complaint recently on her early game being so bad because her late game is even worse. :P

JohnJonesy2 votes

Ehhhhhh no.

Syndra is actually the weakest late game of all champs

It may be a hyperbole, but naaaah man. In a way, there is no "weakest" champ.

Her ultimate is pretty easy to stop with a banshee's

Yes, that is true. But anyone with skill would know to pop the banshee's with a sphere, then ult with the increased damage from the summoned sphere.

Syndra needs the game to end before 30mins or her damage because nothing to fighters/tanks.

The only way Syndra will be useless is if the enemy tanks build all MR, and that will not happen unless your whole team is AP based.

Good day.

He was talking about the magic resist part of banshees, I believe.

JohnJonesy1 votes

Still, 60 MR from Banshee's won't help a Rabadon's, Luden's, Zhonya's, etc. (wow, I never realized how many apostrophes were in the names of the items)

ayNigerianPrince1 votes

But the point is it greatly reduces her burst. It takes more time to burst them down, and unless you stun them they'll probably be able to get away fairly easy if they have any mobility. It mostly increases your survivability when she's throwing around her orbs in teamfights, not through her full rotation.

LegacyDAP2 votes

Even with maxing an ability? I think she has strong burst mid game, and late game. However, like I said I don't play her, so I wouldn't know.

For Carthage4 votes

If you make it to late-game with her, you can do some nice sustained damage if you keep nailing your Q's. It's been better since most (and I stress most) of her E bugs have been fixed since now you can actually help your team with a strong stun, but other than that so many champs do her job several times better. The only things she does exceptionally well in comparison to other champs are that she has the longest range stun in the game (at 1200 units, save globals) and she goes out of mana faster than anybody else (other than Anivia with no mana items). Her entire viability revolves around E sniping the enemy team in lategame, and the worst part is that she can only really blow up the squishiest of enemies - the MR from Banshee's or even SV, even with a Syndra packing void, can still stop you from bursting somebody. And you can't even do it faster than most champs - Vayne kills faster than Syndra lategame, that's how mediocre her burst is.

In other words: unless you're looking for a stun initiation from across the lane, don't bother until the buffs.

SeductiveGrandpa2 votes

Yeah, she pelts you with balls. Taric

LegacyDAP5 votes

I thought about playing those champions too. I rarely see them, but they're really fun, and can create good plays too.

Catastrop3 votes

You should! Lissandra is so much fun and now that they added that heal on her ult, they plays dude, the plays!!! I'm saving up for Syndra at the moment but what really attracted me to her is the ability to Snipe Stuns.

Transgressor4 votes

Syndra's a must buy if you want to consider yourself a skillfull player. Mastering her, is the most rewarding thing in the entire game(after mastering pre-rework kassadin, but that's ancient history). If you are a masochist like me, and feel like breaking an actual sweat trying to carry, she's a must. Her zone control potential, her damage potential, her farming potential, her carrying potential, they are all off the charts. I've won lane 1vs2 against a Nidalee and Fizz(pre-nerfs), I've carried countless games with her. IF she's kept safe by the team like an ADC, she will single handedly win you the game.

I FUCKING LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE SYNDRA

Riot should make another immobile mage champion.

Vel'Koz. We need more like Orianna and Vel'Koz.

SpecterVonBaren3 votes

As much as I love Vel, he's really not that interesting from a gameplay standpoint outside of his ult and q. Not to say I don't think he's not a unique champ to play, but I do wish he had more about him that stood out from other mages, like making his abilities even more about precision and geometry.

Malzahar Does ONE thing really really well (like, DotA levels of being absolutely unrivaled at it), and is only okay to meh at everything else.

Ironically he's one of the closest things the game has to a DotA character, being absurdly good at one thing; and is hard countered by an item (just like most DotA heroes)

BeatinWarDrumz5 votes

malzahar, IMO, is really underrated because his damage is just absurd and most of it is aoe (his w especially - it gives does nearly 70% % health damage?)

I don't think hes op at all, just requires a QSS or some cc to stop his ultimate which is good for soloq because a lot of people wont do it.

I build roa - rylais - liandry's - rabs - void staff - 30 + 50% pen is true damage to squishies, so just taking your w into account you will one-combo them

7ha7guy7772 votes

If you can get 800 AP you will do up to 85% max hp magic damage with W. I don't know at what point they can survive, but if 2 of those items are luden's and liandry's, you can 100-0 with "just" Null Zone... With 0/9/21 masteries

1v1's.

No one can even come close to contesting Malzahar at dueling if he gets his full combo off (its not really fair to call it dueling; its more like you just sit there while Malzahar stares at you intensely)

What about him. He has tons of outplay potential, but he is kind of the thing I didn't want. Lots of mobility, blocks every projectile, huge knock up that is insane. I just want champions who can be good at one thing, and do that one thing extremely well. Not do everything pretty good, and be insane.

Reminder of Wind Wall's cooldown: 26 / 24 / 22 / 20 / 18

Saianna8 votes

Yasuos wind wall is pretty much ultimate-tier ability.

And when you look at it from that perspective then even 30 seconds CD is dirty low.

OneSmoothDude1 votes

I have a similar opinion about Veigar's old E. It wasn't quite ultimate-tier, but before the delay was added it was just an incredible ability.

I'm not saying it was OP because Veigar really depended on it for his kit, but just looking at it objectively...damn.

TotalJerk2 votes

Orianna isn't really as hard as people play her up to be, no champion in this game is particularly hard, actually. League is like a fighting game where everyone only has 4-7 moves.

Still waiting for an invoker-like champion

TotalJerk1 votes

I dunno about Invoker specifically because I don't care for his design, but I've always wanted Riot to release a genuinely difficult to use champion, not just a relatively difficult one.

Ancestor0071 votes

Invoker is the exactly that.

TotalJerk1 votes

I know. I like difficult champions, but I dislike Invoker's design for reasons other than that. Mind you I didn't say hate, but dislike.

But it's on a scale. If everyone in League is easy then you're just talking about "less easy" champions, and Ori is "less easy". Her learning curve is one of the craziest - you need 50-125 games on her to pass a 50% win rate on average.

" She doesn't even have mobility"

... has a movement speed buff. K ...

BuzzinTate5 votes

When her ball is out she cant use it until she walks over it. So in some cases, she really doesnt have any mobility.

LVL 5 PORO1 votes

That's like saying in some cases the sun doesn't exist because clouds are blocking it. No its still there ...

DokiDokiTodoroki3 votes

Wtf is that supposed to mean? Jinx has a pretty massive move speed burst if she gets a kill or assist, but that means she has to get one which means in team fights she's considered a low mobility adc until the resets start coming. You could still say hur dur mobility is still there just at a different time But against assassins she's dead unless her support has the peel of a god. If a move speed boost is too conditional then it's hard to say a champion isn't largely immobile.

LVL 5 PORO1 votes

But that's the thing you idiot, her speed buff ISNT conditional. You press W and BAM, you move faster. Hence, mobility. How are people this stupid? What is the world coming to ... christ.

DokiDokiTodoroki2 votes

You press W when you have the ball on you. It's hilarious how you automatically assume you're above everyone. Calm down. Her w is one of her two actual offensive abilities, since q damage is negligible and auto attacks will likely get you killed. If you're using it defensively, you no longer use it for damage. Also you likely have to use her e to even put the ball on you, because walking out to pick it up will also likely get you killed.

Basically, her "mobility" is e -> w -> get the fuck out

You're losing one of her major ball re positioning tools and her main damage in her kit, which leaves you zero options but to run away because you're now useless unless the enemy team positions themselves for you. That means Orianna has lost her entire role because of this "obvious mobility," which is what this thread is about.

LVL 5 PORO1 votes

Because her W can be used for damage doesnt change the fact that it offers mobility. What are you not understanding? I never said or assumed I was above anyone, I'm just stating facts: She has mobility. She has a spell that allows her to move faster. Hence, mobility. I dont know what your problem is. You need help.

DokiDokiTodoroki1 votes

Because you sound like a condescending prick. "You need help" "how are people this stupid" "What has the world come to" Especially since your analogy makes absolutely no sense but you're acting like you know more than anyone. You can say that you're stating facts, but so are the people responding to you and all you have to say is insult their intelligence.

If she uses the w move speed for herself then she basically becomes a walking sombrero ult. All she can do at that point is run. Maybe she has the q -> r combo available, but a lot of shockwave's damage comes from the dissonance afterwards, so it's honestly more of a positioning tool unless a low health squishy decides to walk into it. She's in the lowest tier of base movement speed in the game. Most of the time her w boost only puts her on par with faster champions (assassins, tanks, bruisers). It's hardly mobility if the conditional boost doesn't actually put you ahead of anyone else. Of course you can argue semantics all day and what you or I consider mobility. But the way you approach it is arrogant and hardly worth anyone's time.

LVL 5 PORO1 votes

I sound like a condescending prick because stupid people piss me off. You're saying, "Ori has a spell that gives her mobility but because she can use it for damage it ceases to give her mobility." No that logic is stupid. JUST BECAUSE THE SPELL CAN BE USED FOR DAMAGE DOESN'T MEAN SHE LACKS MOBILITY!!

If you cannot understand that simple concept you are beyond redemption.

BuzzinTate1 votes

Weird metaphor, I'm saying literally that Oriana cant use her speed buff unless she walks over it. The sun might be there but it doesnt mean your solar panels are pointing to it.
