Lamb's Respite - how does this ability benefit your team over the enemy team?

Profirix··8 votes·7,471 views

When read the description for Kindred's ultimate read "..no living things, ally or enemy, can die" I realized how badly this impacts team fights. Isn't an ultimate supposed to provide a significantly powerful spell (which this is by the way) to mostly benefit YOUR team? If anyone can use this ability to survive, than the only power Kindred has over the enemy team is choosing when and where to cast it. This ability alone screams Bard ult level of troll and I am concerned that it will be way too easy for the opponents to take advantage of this.

Edit: I really appreciate all this amazing feedback. It has given me a whole new perspective on the usefulness of Kindred's role.

I suppose it would be good for low hp disengages. You can place it on whoever is furthest behind the group when you get pushed away from inhibs. It could also clutch counter a Jinx rocket or make the enemy jungler miss a smite.

I suppose ultimately what it boils down to is whether or not it has a travel time or is instant cast. Travel time is what kills Bard ult.

It looks instant in the ability preview. I'm thinking that this ult will need some real creativity to be used effectively. I look forward to unraveling its secrets. >:)

It makes a huge difference against wombo combo comps that rely on CCing you to death. It'll save lives in losing fights, while allowing you to contest objectives or push safely.

This is a good point, but we have all seen just how much of a double edged sword Bard ultimate is. This seems worse.

Duke Anax1 votes

I don't think it is worse. The use cases are a lot more obvious (low health ally) than Bards ult, so it will mostly be an issue with trolls, not with bad players having an accident.

1 enemy in the zone vs 4 of your team in the zone - net gain Fizz or Zed is diving a squishy - net gain Enemy wastes 5 ults while your team wastes one - net gain Enemy is at full health and you toss this on someone to hard initiate/disrupt and soak up their spells/ults - net gain If you toss it on a long range ADC and the other team can't get into your backline to benefit - net gain

This spell definitely has a ton of uses if you are smart about it.

I think the 'saying no to assassins' idea. Like, a fed assassin jumps on your adc, you put the ulti down, and the assassin used all his spells for nothing. Then he got cooldowns. And even if your adc used all his spells too, he can still rely on AA. And even if the assassin rely on AD too... Well he stays in the middle of your team.

Other use could be saving teammates from damage over time (poison, ignite, ...) or damages like Karthus' ulti, Zed's ulti, ...

Same way a Bard ultimate impacts a team fight in a positive way. Position this on a Marksman and keep the enemy team out to make your Marksman instantly win the duel. You guys won't like this, but this ultimate actually synergizes pretty well with ADCs that can keep enemy's out of it, such as Kalista, Vayne, and Tristana. It can also be good on allied champions who are more delayed damage oriented such as Zed. Speaking of which, it also hard counters those ultimates since it makes them unable to kill the targets inside. Not to mention the ultimate is also REALLY GOOD if you are on the losing side of a team fight. If your team was instantly at a disadvantage, throw this baby down and you got a team that can't be killed bursting down an enemy team with that can't fight back, excluding crowd control. Basically, its a game of territory with this ultimate. You throw it down, both teams want to make the other team GET OUT!

I can definitely see your point, but many team fights end up being clustered messes. You can't safely ult someone in a 5 on 5 team fight and expect to do any good.

But the problem with your last statement is that both teams want to make the other team get out right? Well, I feel like people could just walk back in, waiting it out, and at the end healing themselves. If a team is already steamrolling your team, they are just going to be able to focus everyone instead of one person, and burst them down once the ultimate wears off.

Working with the enemy, this ult is tricky, like Bard's. I can't say I like it as much though, since it can still heal enemies as well. It's one thing for making them stasis, but it's another for still allowing others to damage you, heal within it, and even cause themselves not to die when in it, saving from critical moments.

There is a reason why Rito said that it works quite well with people like Gragas. I applaud you for pointing that out.

Slap this down right when Katarina yolos into your team. No resets.

LadyRenly2 votes

It has potential to be used poorly, or used so right it gives your team a second wind. Seems like its use is skill based and based on intuition. I don't see what is bad about it.

Kitten of Evil2 votes

You place it somewhere that is more helpful to your team than theirs? It's the same principle as a Bard ult.

Copy-pasted from my comment on another similar thread:

Same was being said for Bard's ultimate. Just know when to use it, aim it correctly and time it properly -- it's a 100% utility ability that can decide entire fights single handedly. If you aim/time it like an ape with a sledgehammer, yes, you will probaby save the enemy ADC from Zed's Death Mark detonation, and it will cost you the fight.

OR you could aim it so that your team has 4 more seconds to freely damage the enemy team and bring them all to 10% HP even though they have a 10k gold lead on you, and then try to outplay them and ace them after the ultimate ends.

OR get a Janna to make sure only YOUR team stays in the ultimate, and get a double heal from both ults.

Nautoday1 votes

If you were to wait for the enemy team to use their ults and then use it, then no one would die, but your team could still have ults for when you exit stasis. Idk

KidSpectre1 votes

It's not even stasis, it's basically a Trynda ult.

Gonna have some fun trolling if this is the case

It seems really situational, like saving one or two people from a towerdive until help can arrive.

item 3070 Bard item 3070 U can just ult your whole team when Karthus ults tho #worth lel.

id put it on my backrow

Its a better bard ult as you can move around and life steal at the cost its not extremely ranged or disable turrets.

Also you can push enemies out so they are not immortal. Think about Kindred + Azir

Cenobite Azaziel1 votes

Nice. Bard at least gave time for your team CD to come back. "F**** why did you ult? My flash tibbers didn't 1hit KO the adc now.

IcyPepper1 votes

Gives your team time to cc and get away from this asshole who dives your team first

You decide where to place it.

Towers aren't affected, so it's a great ability for forcing a siege.
