So, just watched the Ekko Champion Spotlight

After watching the new Champion Spotlight, I have to give it to you Riot. You may have actually managed to make a champion that will be more toxic than every other one combined. Here is another champion that has ridiculous mobility that doesn't let you escape or allows him to escape quite easily, his damage appears to be very good, and he has abilities that allow him to do a Sejuani ult and a huge AoE burst. All of this with what will probably turn out to be basically little to no counterplay. It is like they took all of the things the community complains about and made a champion out of it.

For the love of God Riot, don't release new champions until you have fixed the current ones.

ADD ON: Now that he has been released. I have been (sadly) proven completely right in my assessment. Possibly the most OP champ ever released.

Quit Over Exaggerating. His so called sejuani ult takes 3 bloody seconds to set up. Though He's real good with a sej ult. His actual CC only lasts a second or so so he really can't be the team initiator. And he's still squishy.

His skills are good for what he is, an Assassin/light fighter.

secondly, PBE does not have a large enough sample space to accurately balance a champion. They probably can't balance him properly until several weeks after release. (was Braum's balancing any different?)

Thirdly, The people currently working on game balance are likely different from the ones working on the new champs. Both teams are likely going to be at maximum Capacity and have no real reason to stop working for the other. So Their is no reason or benefit, for new champs to be put on hold, just because the Balancing team is Over worked.

4 seconds to set up actually.. and if you're standing by his clone for that long, you deserve to take the damage..

4 seconds for the huge burst AoE, 3 seconds for the AoE hard CC. Having both of these spells gives Ekko the best zoning potential in the game.

I honestly hope it's an exaggeration, I really do. But considering what I have seen over the years, I'm not optimistic.

Also the CC lasts for 2.25 seconds and is a hard CC, so he can definitely be the hard engager since the enemy can't respond for a couple seconds.

Finally, the balance team is overworked because Riot is placing too many resources in new champions and not enough in balance. That is business 101 practices.

The time between release of various champions (assuming Ekko is released tomorrow)

Ekko - Bard: 2 months 15 days Bard - Rek'Sai: 3 months 28 days Rek'Sai - Kalista: 21 days Kalista - Azir: 2 months 4 days Azir - Gnar: 1 month 2 days Gnar - Braum: 3 months 2 days Braum - Vel'Koz: 2 months 13 days Vel'Koz - Yasuo: 2 months 14 days Yasuo - Jinx: 2 months 3 days Jinx - Lucian: 1 month 18 days

Assuming a month is 30 days (which is close for base estimates), the highest time between releases in the past 10 champions was 118 days and the lowest was 21. Additionally, the average time between recent champions is 66 days, or around 2 months 6 days.

So tell me more about how "too many resources in new champions" exists when the average time between ONE new champion right now is over 2 months

Honestly, it should be at least 3 months between champions. One, there are already plenty to chose from. Two, if they took more time with them, they wouldn't come out so broken (i.e. Rek'Sai, Kalista, Azir, etc.)

Centuros2 votes

They used to release them every 2 weeks. They have only become more broken because they take time to figure out how to program these weird and terrifying abilities.

Here's one thing: all of his stuff, minus the blink AA, are dodgeable or possible to play against. If the Ekko is smart or a skilled player, they will pull of the combos, get off the damage, etc. If the Ekko is bad, or the opponent is just better than him, then he WILL get outplayed and killed (being he is a squishy assassin)

I completely agree that is how it SHOULD be. However from experience and knowing Riot's love of assassins, I'm pretty sure I will be right in my assessment.

As for the abilities, they have pretty big hit boxes and should be easy enough to land.

For once can bronze 5s not talk about champions? They just love to blame the "champions" for being OP and nvevr look to improve there own skill honestly it seems. Not saying every bronze is bad, my friend has gone from Bronze 5 to diamond 5 (that grind) but most the board posts are bronze 5 kids crying over X is OP. New champion will be "toxic" ETC. it is getting annoying honestly.

Yeah, the rank of someone totally determines whether their opinion is right or wrong. I really love that one since the poster NEVER puts anything of relevance into their reply. The reason for this is that they don't have a valid argument and must resort to some sad excuse of a reply.

Do you actually believe that champions haven't been so broken at one point or another that it wasn't free wins for playing them? If you think so, I can guarantee you that 90% of the forum will agree that you are wrong.

If you think it is all skill, let's see you climb from Bronze only playing Elise. I would gladly accept your argument at that point.

Kãtãrinã1 votes

Actually at one point elise was very strong and i think i know someone who only played her so... technically that is viable. I could probable spam one champion and climb out of bronze.

Lugg1 votes

Yes, it definitely takes skill to climb the ladder but it is definitely easier with some champions and more difficult with others. That's the point I am trying to make. For example, remember how broken Warwick was at the start of this season? It wasn't even a challenge to win with him.

CreationFlaw1 votes

FYI, things on paper seem super broken, and it's the same with a choreographed video. Sure, he's a super assassin and a little broken, but you're making it seem like a Leblanc starting out with 500 AP. His things are hard to hit. Not only that, if you're stupid enough to not notice his w in the back or his past clone, iunno man.

Lugg1 votes

I hope he comes out balanced, but Riot doesn't have a good track record so far.

Have you had a chance to play him yet? You said that his abilities are hard to hit.

Of course his AoE and Ult can be avoided, given that you aren't CC'd or slowed by anyone else. Even if you aren't you are going to be zoned hard.
