Chat restriction suggestion

Arcade Andrew··3 votes·323 views

So as I wind down the last few games of my (unfair IMO) chat restriction

Ive noticed that you dont have access to /all chat obviously, but on top of that ive noticed something that should be implemented that would work tword improving peoples behavior.

The chat restrictions are an automated punishment that works to try and get plays to reform their behavior correct?

Then why is it that when the game is over wether you win or lose, if youve used up all your messages you arent allowed to at least say GG, and even if you can, why should you not be able to say GG to the enemy team since all chat is disabled

The suggestion?

Have one message become available for all chat that can only be used after the enemy or friendly nexus is destroyed to allow players to say "GG/fun game/honor all/ect." and as with any punishment or restriction that message if abused can be reported and further punishments could ensue

Of course you think your chat restriction is unfair, about 95% of the people who have posted about it here say that, more often than not are proven wrong, you don't seem to be that bad, though.

As for the idea, considering that most of the people are chat restricted due to toxic behavior, it's likely they'd use that single chat line to say "GG ez" or "report X", things that won't help their standing.

  1. -1 votes... maybe this community is beyond toxic afterall? I just pointed out an idea to help improve the community for those being punished for it, and I get downvotes.
  2. Well I did deserve a 2 week ban (before these automated punishments) and Riot slumberjack told me that restrictions are 100% automated(I had a rest and ranked rest at the same time of the ban so I thought I was being double jeopardy punished) based on the number of reports, past behavior, what the report was for, and when you were reported (the system doesn't take into account any honor ribbons/honor you get, or positive things when it decides if itll punish you or not)

So I had previously gotten of a 2 week ban and I had been getting regular honor and not being to bad you know having fun, then after 2 select games where the worst thing I said in one was "fuck this team GG" I got reported there and I got the warning about how everyone has bad games ect. ok fair enough I got warned, but several games of getting honor and not being reported later I joking say "gg thanks to riven :C" because I was support karma and she chased down enemies while I was defending the nexus, I dont think she took it as a joke and I think she reported me I cant be sure, anyways fast forward to the next day after 3-5 games of more honor and not being reported

BOOM ranked and chat rest.

I go into the support tickets provide my evidence and games ect. and three times in a row when I asked for logs they gave me automated responses and refused to provide me with any proof I had actually done anything past the "fuck this team GG" game

they still havent replied with a fourth response yet and obviously riot takes forever on these tickets so I decided to just play some games and get rid of them the old fashioned way.

  1. I dont think "GG EZ" is fairly toxic, if they misuse it for "report.." then they get more punishments and eventually banned

(the system doesn't take into account any honor ribbons/honor you get, or positive things when it decides if itll punish you or not)

Good. It shouldn't. Just because you're nice to one group of people doesn't change the fact that you've ruined a game for another group of people. Receiving honor should in no way cancel out any valid reports of negative behavior.

Getting honor doesn't mean you don't have a history of bad behavior. Since it's on record that you do (punishments enacted), you've got a shorter leash than a "clean" account. You've already been given your second (or third, or whatever you're up to) chance. They get stricter on accounts that have consistently misbehaved.

I go into the support tickets provide my evidence and games ect. and three times in a row when I asked for logs they gave me automated responses and refused to provide me with any proof I had actually done anything past the "fuck this team GG" game

The fact that you did with a previous chat restriction is good enough. Chat restrictions aren't just time served to get a clean slate. They're also a warning against further punishments. Subsequent punishments will come sooner and last longer.

  1. I dont think "GG EZ" is fairly toxic, if they misuse it for "report.." then they get more punishments and eventually banned

The old Tribunal would prove you wrong there. Players reported for "gg ez" were very commonly punished, establishing that the community considers it a valid reason to report.

  1. if an automated system never takes into account the good you do and just looks at your past and then slaps on punishment on punishment with no incentive to get better because getting better doesnt give you anything decent, then that system is flawed.

To compare this to real life: in many instances even if youve had a criminal history, they also look at the good youve done when thinking about charging you/sentencing you, your first sentence would always be the lightest but prior sentences, could be worse for you or could be light depending on how you do

and this was a problem in many state prisons, inmates saw no reason to not get sent to SEG (segregation) for everytime they broken a rule, there was more worth in breaking the rules than abiding by them, so the prisons introduced new methods that rewarded good behaviour as an incentive to get them out of SEG

  1. and 3) as stated I cant go into details of my account

I got WARNED after the "fuck this team..GG" game and that was the only game out of 20-30 games that I had played after the ban was over, so your flawed system warned me, ok sure I took the warning, in the riven game I was NOT TOXIC (although I cant proove that because riot refused my chat logs three times now, probably because they know their system was wrong so their trying to keep me quiet, which is why they probably deleted my forum posts but w/e) I said one thing as a joke in a losing game "gg thanks to riven:C as stated because riven left me a karma to defend the nexus (which was going to fall anyways regardless if riven had helped or not) riven seemed angry post game chat SO IM ASSUMING she reported me for verbal abuse/toxicity ect. because 5 or so games after that BOOM automated punishment

4)GG EZ is not toxic what so ever, saying stuff like "HAHA you guys fucking suck to EZ scrublords" is toxic a simple "GG EZ" implies that it was a good game and it was an easy win for them, nothing toxic there.

if Im correct most players who got punished for simply saying "GGEZ" werent actually punished for that, but they were actually toxic, and saying stuff like the example provided.

Any automated system lacking a decent AI is flawed. It could just as well be argued that any human-based system is flawed due to differences of opinion. Most systems in effect are chosen with the intent to increase productivity while maintaining an acceptable margin of error.

To compare this to real life: in many instances even if youve had a criminal history, they also look at the good youve done when thinking about charging you/sentencing you, your first sentence would always be the lightest but prior sentences, could be worse for you or could be light depending on how you do

The problem with tying Honor to the punishment system is that people will use it as a form of misbehavior currency. "I'll fuck with people this game and be super nice for the next 10 games. Surely I'll get enough Honor to negate my reports." Good deeds should not be used this way, especially since the Honor system is so watered down by people (such as yourself) who don't limit honor to those who actually do something special. Such a system becomes a regenerating "get out of jail free" card.

I got WARNED after the "fuck this team..GG" game and that was the only game out of 20-30 games that I had played after the ban was over, so your flawed system warned me, ok sure I took the warning,

It's not my system. It's Riot's. And they have stated many times over that a single game does not trigger a warning. You receive warnings when the amount of warnings you receive increases sharply. The fact that you were warned meant that you had been reported numerous times over several games.

4)GG EZ is not toxic what so ever, saying stuff like "HAHA you guys fucking suck to EZ scrublords" is toxic a simple "GG EZ" implies that it was a good game and it was an easy win for them, nothing toxic there.

It's toxic to rub the loser's face in a loss. Calling them "easy" is the same as saying they suck. Sportsmanship. Look it up. Professionals get fined and/or suspended for disregarding it. Riot's Summoner's Code (a code of conduct referred to explicitly in the Terms of Use) emphasizes courtesy and sportsmanship. Don't be a dick to people.

if Im correct most players who got punished for simply saying "GGEZ" werent actually punished for that, but they were actually toxic, and saying stuff like the example provided.

They were toxic, and "gg ez" is one of the toxic habits exhibited by them. Is it a minor offense? In and of itself, of course. But the disrespect behind it is clear as day, and if someone's already in a bad mood from losing, it certainly isn't going to cheer him up. If you can't see why being rude to people after a game is going to make them feel bad, there's a reason you're confused about being hit by restrictions so easily.

Im only going to reply to a few of these (in numerical order as in the numbe rin which you replied)

  1. Riot actually stated that the system is 100% automated and you could be warned over being reported in just one game depending on previous behavior (which we now know was a lie) or you could be warned after 100 games over a course of time

when they first introduced the new system they said it would be like you could get reported once or twice in a few games, not get warned at all but if the pattern kept up (say you got warned once a month) it would auto restrict you, they also assured that troll reports would never be counted (implying a real person looks at the case) which turns out they lied about that because I got reported once got a warning, fair enough, but when I get reported for poking fun at our loss as a joke, then get punished for it because ONE person didnt like me saying "GG thanks to riven :C" thats a broken system

  1. saying gg EZ is completely acceptable and not rubbing it in anyones face, So what somebody cant say GG easy game anymore? like i said if youre saying gg ez game you noob lord scrubs not even a challenge, thats rubbing it in their face.

  2. Ive never heard of any case where their sole offense was only saying "GG EZ" provide a case where they got punished for only saying "GG ez" and nothing else to proove your point please

Just because you claim you were joking doesn't mean it wasn't an insult to imply that Riven threw your game. You yourself already said it was a lost game anyway, but singling someone out who's already saddled with a loss is a great way to piss that person off. Report? Valid. Don't joking blame someone with whom you have no rapport. Fucking with your friends is one thing. Ribbing a stranger? Not cool.

  1. saying gg EZ is completely acceptable and not rubbing it in anyones face, So what somebody cant say GG easy game anymore? like i said if youre saying gg ez game you noob lord scrubs not even a challenge, thats rubbing it in their face.

What possible reason could you have to tell someone he's easy to beat? How is that not rude? The only reasons to tell a complete stranger that he's easy are to rub it in his face or try to sound like you're a badass because you've got no social grace. It never comes across as "I'm just awesome, it has nothing to do with you." It always comes across as "You don't play well." Have you noticed how it's always "gg ez" and not "ggwp ez?" There's a reason for that.

  1. Ive never heard of any case where their sole offense was only saying "GG EZ" provide a case where they got punished for only saying "GG ez" and nothing else to proove your point please

I never said that was the sole offense. It's merely one valid piece of evidence that a person is an asshat, and treating people like that is reportable.

Arcade Andrew1 votes
  1. you can find evidence that riot lied/is lying everyday about little things such as the tribunal, where Ive seen many time in the loading screen :"did you know: the tribunal punishes over X amount of players everyday! try it out for yourself today!" yet the tribunal doesnt work

  2. jokes are allowed as long as they arent racist toxic ect meaning you cant say jokes like "what did eminem say to hitler?, how much did the holla-cost!?" if you jokingly poke fun of your team mates and they overeact with "OH IM THE REASON WE LOST OH YEAH FUCKING REPORT ME RIGHT?!" (he said that in the post game lobby) thats a report from a toxic player reporting you just because they dont like you IE a troll/false report

4&5) you just proved my point that GG EZ by itself is not toxic nor reportable "I never said that was the sole offense." you just proved my point, that if it was their only "toxic" thing they ever say was "GG EZ" then they probably wouldn't and shouldn't get punished

While you might not be able to say gg at the end you can still say it post game as well as any other positive things and those still can't towards positive behavior.

implying most people dont insta leave that lobby, many times Ill say GG honor all but by the time I send it (which is like 2 seconds after hitting that post game lobby) theres only 2 or 3 people left

Weird. 9 times out of 10, I have enough time in the post game lobby to type, "Thanks for the game everyone," before three people's names go gray. No exaggeration, it's a habit of courtesy. A simple "GG" doesn't take a second to type.

One thing I've noticed about "honor for all" comments is that they're rarely honest. I see that comment pretty frequently without any actual honor. I've come to suspect that most people saying that only say it as a ploy to get reciprocal honor from the other players.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

Ive had many many many lobbies where nobody stays in post game chat,

as for the honor for all I work on on the basis of my little way to make even the worst games not so bad

it goes like this

1)Ill say in pre game lobby : im going to honor you all at the end of the game(this boosts morale) 2) in game I say ok good luck gents, dont forget to honor everyone post game(not in all chat only in team chat, all chat would be GLHF or something) 3) I play the game, taking note of any toxic players/trolls feeders/afks ect 4) post game I say GGhonor all(both in all chat whilst im not restricted, and post game) and if there is an afk ill tack on "except for...." then I file the REPORTS first, that way I can watch post game lobby for anybody who might start spewing toxic stuff in which case I report them too, after the reports (which i dont tell them im reporting them) I honor everyone else

but I rarely get honor anymore unless I 24/7 bug for it in game youknow?

the simple matter of honoring everyone win or lose, makes a bad loss not feel so shitty, and a good win feel even more worth it

Unless something notable happens in the pregame lobby, you're cheapening the concept of honor by promising it for no reason. The only times I'll even mention honor in the pregame chat is if someone willingly gave a desired role to another teammate for the good of the team ("win or lose, I'm honoring you for that") or somehow does something out of the ordinary that deserves recognition.

  1. in game I say ok good luck gents, dont forget to honor everyone post game(not in all chat only in team chat, all chat would be GLHF or something)

Again, telling people to honor everyone is cheapening it. Fact: Riot doesn't give you enough honor to hit everyone every game. You do run out.

  1. I play the game, taking note of any toxic players/trolls feeders/afks ect
  2. post game I say GGhonor all(both in all chat whilst im not restricted, and post game)

More cheapening, and if I was on your team I'd be very wary of you for bringing it up three or four times.

and if there is an afk ill tack on "except for...."

There's no need to single people out. This can be considered harassment.

then I file the REPORTS first, that way I can watch post game lobby for anybody who might start spewing toxic stuff in which case I report them too, after the reports (which i dont tell them im reporting them) I honor everyone else

Fact: If you honor people constantly, your honor is worth less and less. Riot's system values honor from strangers who are selective about those to whom they grant honor. It devalues honor from premade queues, people on your friend lists, and people who give honor frequently.

but I rarely get honor anymore unless I 24/7 bug for it in game youknow?

I've never felt the need to ask for it. You're not supposed to do that. Riot has even officially stated that you should report anyone that requests honor trades.

the simple matter of honoring everyone win or lose, makes a bad loss not feel so shitty, and a good win feel even more worth it

If you're honoring regardless, no. It feels empty and worthless (especially coming from someone who claims to honor people en masse). I agree that giving honor regardless of a win or loss is a good thing, but simply giving it every game is not.

Arcade Andrew1 votes
  1. if you say youll honor them, they are more likely to not be toxic, rude ect and try their best 2)regarding running out of honor: I have been honoring everyone in my games for the past like 10+ games and I have not run out... and im pretty sure honor doesnt stack up for every game you played (IE you play 200 arams and you get 150 honor out of it)

3)did you not see the part where that is in the post game lobby? I never say to report anyone UNLESS they obviously deserve a report, I cant go around saying "GG honor everyone" and then not say anything about the afk, that would imply I condone afkers and we should honor them, nope they need to be reported.

4)however they still get they "+1/2/3/4 .... honor" message, thats what makes them try and stop being rude to each other, they like seeing that

  1. I dont exactly ask for it as much as I say what type of honor I prefer (when others ask "hey what honor do you want or do you not care?" when they cant figure out what they should honor me for. When I refer to asking I mean constantly bringing the term honor up, as in hey honor for that play! or nice job im honoring you for that!

If i simply go into a game with a bunch of "gj" "nice play" "ty" and then "GG honor all" at the end, nobody bother to stick around, but if you put the word honor in there they are more likely to honor you

  1. Idk about you, but if they honor me it makes me feel good like I did something enough to make them take time out of their day to click a button and choose what kind of honor to give me, I take my time to honor them (and I dont simply honor everyone I honor them as long as they continually deserve it throughout the game which 85% of players do thanks to me mentioning that ill honor them, its a reverse psychology thing, i tell them im honoring them no matter what they think "hey what a nice guy, even if we do badly or dont do so hot we still get honor, IM gunn try my best for him!")

side note: when it comes to matchmaking people who have honor ribbons/ high amounts of honor tend to get matched with similar players(with ribbons and such)

same thing with negativity

generally people with honor ribbons win more games.

so thats another incentive to get honor by honoring everyone you meet :D

(not really, but I just though Id point that out)

It sounds like you've discovered an incentive to not get yourself another chat restriction. Sounds like it did the job restrictions are intended for.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

well if you read my post I think the restriction was unfair, but since all my support tickets were answered with automated responses and forum posts regarding it were blantantly deleted and Im not supposed to discuss account issues on the forums, I cant go into details about why it was unfairly place on my account.

however the idea still stands it would give them the ability to be more positive and not restrict them because theyve already used up all their messages

Deep Terror Nami2 votes

I did read your post, and I don't believe your claim. You're also now saying you can't go into the details, which makes me think you know it was fair but don't want to accept it.

Arcade Andrew1 votes

I cant go into details because then my entire post would get deleted for "discussing account issues" but I gave a summary in one of these other replies that vaguely wraps up why I thought it was unfair.
