Why is matchmaking still so bad in season 7?

We're about to hit season 8 and I can still game games where I get stomped by 2 premades while I get a top laner who goes 0/8. Why is this allowed to happen once a week? This should be a rare 4 AM kind of thing. But it's happening at 7 PM on a Sunday when the server is probably full of players to balance this out. The jungle/mid premades with super great communication, and they won. Feels like S6 all over again. You don't balance out "muh premades" by putting someone higher ranked in the game. You're basing the other 7 people in this game, their whole experience, by the premade and that one higher elo person. How about we have a queue with ONLY solo players? Or at least adjust matchmaking a bit to even out by SKILL instead of who is paired in a premade? [sg-ahri-2]

I think one of the possible reasons is players Smurfing. You got a team of Bronze players on one side, and you got a team of Bronze players on the other side... but wait. One team is legit, 4/5 first time Ranked players, and their Bronze rank means they're truly Bronze. The other side, you have players who are actually Platinum and Diamond, who are playing alternate accounts because their team is offline, or they want to trash some low ELO for fun, or maybe their main account is banned right now... whatever.

That one team is going to get slapped around hard, regardless of the fact that "everyone" is bronze ranked. A possible solution would be to make it more difficult to Smurf. I'm not entirely sure how one would do that.

That is an issue I find, but these people were premade in a club, the matchmaking needs to put them in a match with only premades. Problem is, a combination of 2-man sized group doesn't fit in a 5 man team.

I wouldn't really say this problem is exclusive to season 7. In my experience, this has happened at the end of every season because players are all trying to get their ranks higher before the season ends. Because of this we have players who haven't played ranked all season beyond placements suddenly getting back into playing ranked. Then there is also the issue of some people playing a role they are not very familiar with against an opponent who mains that role. So, playing ranked right now is honestly a bit of a crapshoot unless you can hard carry a game. Premades may have some impact on the fairness of the game, but there are a lot of other issues going on and making a queue with only solo players won't fix them.

It's happened all season. At least once a week (Once a month when I was busy and only played like 4 games a week) I get a game where it's just "Who has the better premade?"

Because there are millions of people playing with all types of boosteds, smurfs, OTPs from past metas, trolls, impatient bad players, casuals, new players, uknowledgable bad players, players that don't gaf, and vets mixed together. That is no excuse though, because it is poor.

New/casual players wouldn't be in high gold.

Very very true, but they can really slow your trip reaching there.

True. I guess new players should be replaced with "New accounts"

I played with a "new player" like 2 years ago and I found out through his name that it was a D2 streamer.
