My opinion on the Rengar changes
As a Rengar main since his release and got to promos for diamond 3 with him, i have mixed feelings on his changes.
To give a brief summary of my thoughts on Rengar: At release i saw an awesome predator champion with an amazing fantasy. He was however with a bunch of problems (he was the definition of feast or femine, with the infamous triple q with no counter play). So naturally he was reworked. When the reworked was released most Rengar mains were not happy with the changes, however i thought it was a step in the right direction. Unfortunatley some of the problems remained. He relied on surprise in order to function. His cc and ganks were too predictable so the only way for him to function is trough ghostblade + flash (especially after the indicator nerf). In high elo most mains actually stopped playing him in season 6 due to the nerfs and meta changes. I do not consider the rework a complete failure! He had more freedom than ever to build items than before. Playing him tank/offtank/full damage was up to the player. He took more skill to play him well and he had more flexibility in fights.
And now for the current changes:
The pros: He takes more skill and less button mashing in fights. Less annoying for the enemy. Bonetooth passive improoved in terms of theme and function. More parallels with kha'zix (new q and bonetooth)
The cons:
He lacks the tools to be effective, since he can no longer surprise snare/instakill someone. His ganks will be very weak and predictable. I think that his e in this rework should be a snare and his empowered should give a different bonus. I cannot imagine in high elo this version of Rengar doing a successful gank without your ally doing most of the work.
His only team utility is removed. He no longer grants vision of the enemy team and he might just kill himself due to the fact that he has no idea if there are more than 1 person near his target.
His new ultimate could be considered a liability and alert his enemies to retreat, and it might be better to just not use it and flank.
The new version of his ultimate has too long cd, considering it is inferior to his previous versions in every way.
My overall thoughts are that he just takes more skill to play and his damage potential is indeed higher but as he is right now he lacks the tools to be effective in high elo. In a perfect world yes he can destroy a squishy target. But it is highly unlikeley that if the enemy is smart it will ever happen.
There is also the consern with his new w. I think that we might have another Ekko sitiuation coming up. Being able to be immune to cc and heal burst might make him to be the new version of Olaf or Ekko and with the new unreliable ultimate i wouldn't be surprised if indeed tankar returns with similar power when his w healed him for his max hp.
