can the nexus itself actually get defenses?

i mean i know this game is built on xpeke memes, but its pretty annoying and stupid that you outplay a team so hard and on the virg of winning but some ass hat guy jumps the gate and takes out the nexus because all it is is a giant inhib.

you cant do this in ANY other moba, and for good reason. its extremly stupid and anti climatic to win or lose a game because of that

The nexus does have defense, they're called the Nexus Turrets. The nexus isn't supposed to defend itself, you're supposed to do that, it's literally a glorified inhibitor. And before you harp on about 'oh but smite and heroes have nexuses that defend themselves' they do that because they don't have two big fucking towers stationed right in front of them. In SMITE you have the Phoenixes (inhibitors that defend themselves, no tower involved) -> NEXUS. In Heroes you have the Towers & Gate -> Fort - > NEXUS In Dota2 you have the Towers & Barracks (totally optional) -> Nexus turrets -> NEXUS In League you have the Inhib towers -> Inhib -> Nexus turrets -> NEXUS

1- Just because other MOBAs like features like that, it doesn't mean it has to be implemented in League.

2- It might be anti climatic, but involves a good deal of game knowledge and strategy to succesfully take an open Nexus. I've played with teams up to Plat both in the NA and in the BR server (in accounts from my friends, I'm a bronze scrub) and I've seen my fair share of throws happening in attempts to take an open Nexus.

3- If a team has an open Nexus, no TP up, and no way to quickly answer to a sneaky Backdoor, that team is taking a huge risk when pushing away from the base and they should know it. It's up to the defending team to choose the appropriate course of action while evaluating the risks. Is it possible to end the game in a single team fight? Is the defending team capable of turning the tides and recover from what is basicly a lost game? Those and many others are questions that need to be considered. It's all about game knowledge and calculated risks. Put a Baron like entity defending the Nexus and you remove a strategic portion of the game, as at any given time, you should now have enough time to respond to any threat.

Another point is that it would take MUCH longer to finish games with another way to defend the Nexus, as the pushing team would have to be not only stronger than the defending team, but stronger than them + their allied Baron.

there should be no risk. you shouldnt be stuck in your base for 5 mins just because you lost a single inhib. its a stupid mechanic. also you dont need teleport. shaco, yi, jax, etc can just casually walk into the base and take it. it also would not increase game length. you should be taking nexus as a team anyway. the def would only work against solo backdooring.

TequilaZombie2 votes

If you lost a single inib you should still have 2 turrets protecting your Nexus. If you lost those turrets, then you are in a risky situation and should play accordingly.

If you only have 1 turret, a few champions in theory can take it out, but your team should still be able to defend.

also you dont need teleport. shaco, yi, jax, etc can just casually walk into the base and take it.

Wait, is that a troll or just misunderstanding? If THE DEFENDING TEAM has no TP to quickly answer to a backdoor they must be careful, not the ATTACKING TEAM using TP to backdoor.

Anyway, there are at least 5 turrets an an inib in the way of a pushing team. If you failed to defend those, you're probably going to lose even if given one extra defensive line.

it also would not increase game length.

Of course adding one extra line of defense to a base would increase game time. Ok, this is trolling and I'm feeding it.

You got me, GG WP.

In some other MOBAs like DOTA u cant do that. But in those u dont have recall. Its simple, if your nexus is exposed u dont leave base.

Beldair2 votes

Smite has a recall and the "nexus" fights back.

Heroes of the Storm you have a recall and the "nexus" acts like a large turret.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

And in neither of those do the nexus have turrets in front of it. They act as their turrets

Beldair1 votes

Smite has Phoenix's protecting the entrance to the Titan (Nexus) which acts like a turret/inhib

Heroes has Towers near it to help protect it...

So you were saying?

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

The Phoenix acts as the inhibitor and inhibitor turret in one.

The Titan acts as the nexus and nexus turrets in one.

Again, neither of them have extra turrets directly in front of them (like the Nexus) to protect them, because they provide their protection

If you don't have a Town Portal Scroll or Boots of Mobility at that point in the game, you deserve to lose in Dota.

If you dont have wards around map to see person backdooring and if u leave base without clearing base of enemy wards to prevent teleport and even if u leave base knowing that alive enemy has teleport, you deserve to lose in LoL.

this is also false. for one think green warding is extremely limited now ever since they took the ability to buy green wards out the game (which was a retarded decision no fucking doubt about it). 2ndly most players start to swap out there trinkets for sweepers specifically to deward. usually the top, jg, and support does this. the ADC usually gets blue trinket so that he doesnt have to facecheck bushes. pinks are also visible now, rendering them pointless.

so its not a simple matter of "warding" to stop backdoors. you actually cant ward enough.

Then dont leave base till inhib respawns.

Pink wards are in no way pointless, sure you can see them but they serve warding and dewarding purposes and allow your team exactly the vision you need in this case. The Support should have a sightstone which can max out their wards placed amount and the jungler can always switch out their jungle item for green smite (assuming they didn't have it already) for extra wards. On top of the blue trinket ward and your mid laners wards, this is far more wards than you'll need to keep your side of the map covered as you push forward.

there is a recall in HoTS and its not possible to solo take the nexus in that game. even with mercs you would have trouble

veigar does like 500+ AA to nexus because of how AP converts AA damage on structures lol. dont need a carry, just need anyone thats not a tank who doesnt builds full defense.

Sona x Rubick1 votes

i was talking about dota 2, xpeke was able to kill the nexus alone because unlike in dota2, you don't need a carry to kill the nexus.

You shouldn't even be in a situation where your Nexus can be killed solo if you "outplay" the other team "so hard". "Outplay" them better next time.

i dont think you get how fast a trynd, yi, or jax destroys turrets as long as a few minions are nearby. all 3 of which cant be 1v1ed and out dueled either unless they are significantly far behind or just plain bad. so you will need to send multiple people after them just to stop a fucking solo push.
