Why is shen so small?

Seriously i was playing shen with a friend and we realized that zed is like 150% the size of shen. Seriously, it even plays into shen's abilities, because it makes his E harder to hit, and less likely to hit multiple targets.

Game art and game mechanics don't actually connect to one-another. You have to force them to work together. A lot of first-person shooters duplicate character models for their corresponding hit boxes, but LoL just uses a circle. Also - from what I know of WC3's editor (the game engine used to create LoL's predecessor DotA and a game several of LoL's founders worked on), model size, collision radius, projectile launch points, and ability radii are all separate, unconnected stats.

The collision radius of every champions in LoL isn't directly tied to the size of their model. It's pre-set by Riot's designers, and from what I've read-just falls into a certain size class. It's incredibly likely Shen's hitbox and collision radius is exactly the same size as Zeds.

Shen's Taunt just has suck range because his taunt was nerffed to have sucky range.

While i'm not 100% sure about the engine or the programming behind hitboxes and spell hit boxes, there is a least one example of hit box determining spell size, and that's cho'gath E. I'll admit that riot specifically added that into the game, because having a 20 story tall monster shoot spikes only the size of a teemo was a little awkward.

Though i thought that there was a patch once where they adjusted the model size of a champion, to change the hit box of an ability. Nautilus JarvanIV Blitzcrank or something.
