Placements are Bogus, ELO is simply halved from last season.

So, I finished my placements today with 7 wins and 3 losses. I carried 4 or 5 of those games and lost 1 due to an afk. After completing my final placement game, I was saddened to see I had been placed in Bronze 4 0 LP. This wasn't even the most frustrating part, though. A friend of mine who quit league and was Gold 3 last season played his placements and intentionally lost them all (He even afked a game). After completing his placements, he was placed in Bronze 2.

Now, I was Silver 5 50ish lp before the season ended. I was stuck there because of an afk every 3 games, so I thought my placements would get me to silver 4 or 3 since I won 70% of my games. Nope, I'm placed back to where I was last season when I first started out, knowing literally nothing about the game back then.

Riot, why are these placements so bogus? I've seen silver 5-1 players win 10/10 of their games and get bronze 4 or 5. This system clearly isn't balanced and it's quite obvious your elo is just halved from your last season. If players won even 5/10 of their games, they should have retained their old rank because of a 50% winrate.

Getting back to where I started from when I was a massive noob shouldn't be my crowning achievement for working hard to win 7 of my 10 placement games, and I certainly wont work hard to get back to where I was last season if I have to do these same ratio'd placements again next year.
