Should Sion be buffed?

I'm pretty new to the boards..Well..Completely new, but I can't be the only one who thinks new Sion fell off way too hard. He seems(After the millions of nerfs to him) that he became almost useless unless his team was super ahead or he got fed. I'm not saying he's completely awful, I'm sure you could easily play him if you put enough work into it but..He's been super unplayed for awhile, I've probably seen around 10 in the past 6 months, and he seems weak overall.

When I play him = He easily gets outclassed by the new juggernauts or pretty much any other tank or AD champ..Heck didn't they do this rework to try and fix how he has 2 AD abilities and 2 AP abilities? Why did they instantly give him back those same type of scalings if they were going to fix it? I may just be really bad with him, or he takes a larger amount of skill to play, I 'unno, I just think by now his shield needs buffed by now to match him up with the other high-tier tanks at the moment.

Well, sorry for not having that much to say and being kinda a giant newbie when it comes to this but, please give me your opinions regarding Sion in the comments!

Could I, if it's not too much to ask for, have your reasoning?

53.89% win rate. Tanks need looking at as a whole. They're all doing a lot of damage while being just durable enough to make that damage oppressive, which in my opinion actually makes them kinda less fun of a concept.

I want them to do less damage but be like. Twice as tanky

In my ideal world, Sion would be buffed anyway.

I suppose 54% WR isn't awful, a lot better than a lot of champs I've seen in the past, but I still think he needs a little change to work a little better. A small shield buff would be enough in my opinion

I should note that Sion does less than average damage for a Top Laner, not to mention his damage is skewed by just how much AOE he has, so that whole

They're all doing a lot of damage while being just durable enough to make that damage oppressive

Is kinda...

I've 100-0'd ADCs as Sion building full tank Thanks to the power of item 3748

According to the link:

Sion does barely below average damage; not the signature trait of a do or die carry like you first point out. In fact, he's got significantly lower than average kills, the exact opposite you'd expect of a champion who has the traits you first called out.

He outclasses both the original Juggernaut (Nasus) and the newest Juggernaut (Illaoi) in lane, and "any tank or AD champ" represents far too much of Top Lane's champion pool to really be a legitimate statement towards anything.

Sion takes far more damage on average for a top lane champ, suggesting that his defensive pool with his current shield is more than suffice for the job given every other trait he has.

The only two things you get right are that he's unpopular and he takes a fair bit of skill to play, given that his highest win rate in terms of how many times you use Sion is in the 50-125 games range. Also the problem with old Sion was that his AP and AD abilities did not interact with each other, not that they were AP and AD abilities. New Sion's kit all plays the exact same job of being a supportive CC and Utility heavy Tank.

Ah. Good point, I can see what you mean. I'm just speaking from my experience, so I will admit I'm more than likely wrong.

Sion is a weird champion but in a good enough spot, he's not weak just not suited to current metas atm due to all of the champions in top lane that are geared towards healing, poke, and counter tank, Sion in his current state takes the role of a pure tank that has extreme amounts of base damage with ungodly tank so if you're something that requires close range trading like shen, fiora, or any other melee champ he WILL destroy you.

I was just speaking from my experience with Sions, they never seem to do good against any of the main top laners..The only times I see them doing any good is when they're against someone they hard counter.

I didn't say he'd be completely impossible to win with, Ijjust said he seems to be too weak in the current state of the game.

He doesn't need a buff imo... He's dangerously close to being the most healthy champion in the game atm; Each part of his kit is pretty well balanced between power and counterplay. It is worth pointing out that he really is a Tank with Fighter tendencies unlike the Juggernauts which are mainly Fighters with Tank tendencies. A HUGE amount of Sion's power budget is tied up in the CC on his Q and Ult. Now his W is most people's biggest complaint but honestly the ability has some ridiculous potential being the source of his health stacking (and directly scaling off of it) in addition to dealing up to 14% of each enemies max health. It is powerful and it does deserve the 3 second delay. His E is probably his least powerful ability but is easily his most consistent, essentially acting as an enabler for the rest of his abilities. As far as his passive goes I'd actually argue that it does exactly what it is intended to do and is as effective as it should be. In my experience most people's problems with his passive is that they want it to be something that it's not; It is not there to get kills nor to give bonus tank nor ignore CC. It does those things but that is not it's main focus. Nearly every aspect of his kit is pretty heavily focused on zone control and his passive effectively gives you zone control after death. You want it to do more? O.o Too bad... your dead... Why should you get anything? XD

That's how I see his kit... And I love it. XD

As far as builds go I'd definitely suggest going real heavy tank and getting Titanic as your offense item. If your really ahead BC can supplement the Titanic but not before you've built up a good base of Armor and MR...

In my opinion he is fine right now. He scales well for a tank. The items available work well on him right now. He is fun to play. Not broken and strong and not weak.

You could make an argument that in organized 5v5 play he isn't as good due to his ult and other abilities not being as reliable as other champs. Right now I feel like he is where he should be. I hope they don't touch him at all.
