Why doesn't Caitlyn have a Headshot counter under her HP?

Freeza with an I··52 votes·15,504 views

Champions like Annie and Pantheon were given the ammobar-esque counter above their head that tracked when their empowered abilitiy would be up, so did Corki as well. Why does Caitlyn get to keep her potential one shot ability under a really faint hand particle affect and a noise? Half the time it's impossible to tell it's up without clicking her which isn't an option in most fights. Can we please have this added??

The problem is that everything cait does just generates headshots.

a headshot in my experience of playing league has never 100-0 someone

while i think u are probably right, this is not what will help u deal with her headshots because its not even the primary way to deal headshots.

Annie gets a visual effect around her, why don't we just remove Annie's counter for her stun then?

Whip it good3 votes

Because the Annie stun is way more deadly than Caitlyn's headshot. Warning that she's about to flash ult your enitre team can make a difference. Caitlyn can get her headshot after every Net or trap she lands.

Ragnaveil8 votes

Ok, that doesn't mean those headshots dont hurt. A non tank can get hit by a 1000 damage headshot if they accidentally step on a trap and she happens to be there, late game. Even without the net or trap, her just obtaining it by autoing is a threat itself cuz good caits will likely headshot 3 times (headshot via autos into headshot from trap into headshot from net that secured the trap).

Oh well in that case we can take away any and all visual indicators that aren't there for the deadliest abilities in the game.

Ahri green orb, Akali spinning her weapon, Alistar chains, Braum passive marks, Corki ult isn't that strong so let's remove the bar below his HP too, Evelynn heart forming above you, Irelia passive, Janna's W, Jhin's 4th shot spin and his bullet counter, Yasuo flow counter, just everything.

So are you saying that all those champs should get a counter below their health bar? Should conqueror also have one? They function the same as cait's headshot.

If i recall, the reason annie got a counter was because the main strategy while playing her was to sit at 3 stacks so you dont have a visual and then quickly combo 2 spells into a stun. Cait, and the others, cant really do that so their visual warnings suffice.

No, I'm saying that Cait's visual is barely noticeable compared to theirs. Conqueror can go away, but Cait's headshot stays until she shoots.

You can still do that. You could also always click on Annie and see her stacks.

Ahri Green orb isn't really deadly , it heals her

No he isn't , the true damage on return always exists , it's not about the orb being green or something

Yes that's my point. He said "Since annie's stun is deadlier than Cait's headshot", so we're removing anything that isn't as deadly as Annie's stun.

No, those are animations. That's different from what the subject is.

Irelia has stacks for hers, Janna has a zephyr flying around her, Braum passive is shown in marks, like Kai'Sa. Corki has a counter under his HP for his ult. Yasuo has it in his resource bar.

So does the Shiv item. It's hard to tell the difference from a glance.

You can easily left click her and keep tabs on her passive.

real question: why doesnt she always aim for the head???

ModCaptainMårvelous2 votes

Mostly because Cait's headshot is just an additional bonus damage buff, unlike Jhin (Who gets an absolutely massive crit + MS), Annie (Who gets a stun) and Pantheon (who gets EVERYTHING empowered).

Only the next basic ability is empowered afaik.

It's not that Panth enters a superman mode or something.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

What he meant with everything is that every of his abilities has a different empowered bonus, so he can basically chose from 3 different effects from his passive.

By that logic, they should remove Vayne's W since it's just an additional damage buff and therefore doesn't need the visual indicator.

The thing is when Cait has a headshot ready, you see it in her particles on her hand. Same deal with Vayne. Jhin/Annie have much bigger effects than Cait and Vayne so they naturally have more visible indicators. Jhin primarily has it because you always need to be aware of how many shots he has lest you get 1-2'd by a surprise nukeshot you didn't see coming and Annie because stuns.

Caitlyns headshot deals insane damage early, not being able to clearly see it being up usually results in a chunk of health instantly gone.

No they don't unless you combine it with another ability like E to proc another hs. At lvl 1 it takes 3 hs to take the enemy adc to half hp. The bar telling you when she gets a hs would be so hard to follow because if they step on a trap she gets a hs, they get hit with an E she gets a hs. The bar then would be like oh 3 stacks , HS, HS, back to 5 now if they coded it to follow her passive only but it would jump all over the place as she hits her abilities. That's why the partial affect on the gun works the best.

Bugog1 votes

I don't know why this is a contentious request. Cait has a visual indicator that she has a headshot ready. The OP says that it is difficult to see that indicator and is asking for them to instead use the visual indicator that many other champions have. I don't think that this will actually change anything because cait can hold her headshot as long as she wants or proc it multiple ways, but it's not an unreasonable request.

those counters are ugly and remove a layer of thinking from the game. i dislike how annie and corki got them.

It's not removing a layer of thinking, it's adding a layer of counterplay. When you have no idea that Annie is gonna one shot you in two spells, it became really obnoxious to play against her.

Somebody Love Me2 votes

It's because everyone else's has a window of being down. Cait can stack four possible headshots together so an ammo bar wouldn't be helpful.

Her gun lights up and generally its not her headshots from autos youll be worried about. Its the chain headshots from trap auto e q auto

LordGeovanni1 votes

Then people would realize how often its up in addition to being able to do it more with her traps and net. No body ever sees how they get 4 head shots in a row from a bush if they can ever survive 2
