Is the DFG removal really that bad?

I mean on half the champions that are losing it I rarely build it on them.

I manage to carry games with Veigar without it (never built it on him). I never build it on Syndra and still do well. I never build it on LB and still do well. The only champs I have ever really used it on is Ahri and that's because she almost needs it for a 1 rotation kill or troll picks. They include AP Rengar, AP Shaco, full burst Annie, the now removed AP Tristana, and I see AP malphs build it. I feel like this is more of a step towards anti troll builds or overkill builds.

So what champions actually rely on it? Because I really don't see any. Most of the reliance is on troll builds the other ones is just for pure snowball potential and laziness over picking careful engages.

I don't really think it's that bad. I don't built it for Veigar either and do amazingly well. You really don't need the extra burst from that inorder to fight people.

Most people say Ahri, Kat or LeBlanc rely on it and well it works good for them but I've been making many builds with them that don't include it and do just as well.

You do know DFG removal isn't all just about you.

It works really well on bursty champs like Leblanc Veigar , and I think Riot just don't like the kind of bursty toxicity going on here.

Veigar doesn't need it. He is meant to farm. LB has tons of spammable burst. Why does she need to one shot someone with a single combo when she is pretty safe to begin with and high burst.

He does actually. Either against an advantageous or AD mids, DFG really synergises well with his ult, dealing a massive shitton of damage to a single target, helps a lot if he didn't get enough farms with his Q. And for LeBlanc, of course people gotta get greedy for more bursts right?

I regularly rush tear and chalice on him because they synergism so well with his kit and eachother and gives him so much mana that you can farm for ages as long as you play him correct. The game isn't always about kills. Farm is way more important especially on stack orientated champs. And that extra mana pool lets you have room for poking and still farming.

No, it's being removed because it's "too hard" for them to find a balance in the item.

its the fact that they are jerk nerfing some champs now before removing it , while mages are already struggling with mana nerfs agasinst the new assassin/energy/resourcless meta , they also up the morello cost, chalice STILL is THE worse alternative out of all mana regen items

also , itemization for mages sucks asassins can go straight into their core dmg builds since their first B , mana users like syndra wich got further nerfed, HAVE to waste their first item slot on mana regen JUST to be able to stay in lane , the SECOND you move from mid , zed or kat, or any of the other spammed mids right now will utterly murder your tower before you get back , so being without regen first is NOT an option even then, you are behind in terms of building your core compared to said assasins that for the most part, have better early wave clear than you do wich shouldn't be but it is..

as it stands there is no mage mana regen item that gives you ap and mana regen from the start its either one or the other we don't get that benefit like energy users do

right now, the only one im having some success with is velkoz on account he does true dmg and doesn't need much ap to hit hard so rushing mana regen on him doesn't put him as behind comparatively as other ap casters or nukers

I agree though, most champs don't "need it" I think the exception is ahri because she did got nerfed because of the existence of this item, most other mages adapted it at some point for overkill potential but I think the few that might need it and miss it are ahri and syndra, maaaybe leblanc but she will still do good without it

I've seen it as a recommended build for Annie, but in my personal opinion, I believe Annie is better suited as a multi-damage, opposed to single-target damage.
