Garen really really needs a nerf.

So I just played a game and sometimes after the game, I like to look at the charts. Usually the 1st thing I look at is damage dealt to champions. To my shock, I discovered the Garen on my team had done the most damage out of everybody in the game. I mean look at this:-

Garen 7-3-5 KDA with item 3068 item 3111 item 3071 item 1028 = 15,240 damage (9.6 K Gold, 104 CS)

Here's our Malzahar

Malzahar 8-1-2 KDA item 1056 item 3020 item 3165 item 3027 item 1052 = 13, 775 damage (10.4 K Gold, 153 CS)

Our Malz was better fed, less deaths, better farmed and all damage items and Garen with a single damage item out did him in damage. Something is really wrong here. Garen is not balanced. Should tanks really be doing that kind of damage ?

Your Malzahar might be better fed, but he built wrong. If he went with Rylais and Liandrys he would probably have the highest damage output. As for your Garen, i bet most of his damage was done to that opponent Nasus, also dont forget if he manages to get into enemy team and spin, he will hit 5 people at once. While your Malzahar built arround single target damage. Not to mention sunfire cape, hitting 5 people.

Considering that garden participated in 12 kills compared to malzahars 10, and the difference is only 1.5k it's not a fair assumption that he's op. He might've poked the enemy top laner (which is possibly a tank, hence able to soak more damage) than the mid laner

Both of you make valid points but still, don't you all find it strange that a tank can actually compete this closely with a fed mage in damage. Given the points both of you made it would have been understandable if the damage dealt by each champion were the opposite of what they actually were.

Garen isnt tank, he is juggernaut. No dashes, low mobility, high damage.

Fair enough. One question though, why pick a mage over a juggernaut. Juggernauts typically have better defensive and they still bring the damage. What does a mage bring that a juggernaut doesn't ? Think of a mage like Annie or Cassiopeia who also have low mobility, no dashes and high damage.
