yes, the problem is not much the champions, but the items and how they interact with the champions.
however, one wonders, maybe the problem is the champion?
as a main gnar, that loves the champ, like to play with him and doesn't easily gets bored playing gnar (I get bored easy).
i can say that the only way to make frozen mallet a bad choice on gnar is:
- to make everything else much, much better.
- to remove his W % health damage.
- to simply modify how frozen mallet works.
but one need to remember, does this solution cause less problems or more problems?
well, removing Gnar W % damage make mini gnar do less damage, and that still doesn't make Frozen mallet a bad choice on him, since he get up to 1.3 Attack speed and move speed burst, that just breaks him, worse, removing the speed buff make mini inviable in almost every scenario.
make everything else better and frozen mallet bad... you may as well remove it from the game and rebalance every single champion again, or something like that.
you can also make the item passive a active, or a conditional passive.
in fact, there's so many ways to solve this that i even forgot some.
you can make a conditional passive.
you can make a conditional passive with a active.
you can make it interact with abilities in a reverse way that
interacts.
you can make a conditional active.
you can make a active.
you can just make a new passive that has nothing to do with slow.
you can make a passive that interacts with slow.
it sounds so easy, and they have done harder things.
yes, it breaks a loot of champions (well, i don't know a list of regular frozen mallet users, do you)
but the new keystone system is gonna break everything.
the changes on the jungle.
the reworks on Ryze...
to be honest, why they kept reworking Ryze when Tryndamere has a more broken kit that doesn't work well?
