Champion Reworks

Ok, not to be a whiner, and I haven't read every single forum lately, but why is Ryze put ahead of Yorick on the update? Like I get he doesn't fit Riot's vision but he's not unbearably OP and he's a neat champion. I'm fine with him getting an update but I don't understand how he could possibly be higher priority than what many see as Riot's biggest embarrassment right now. Yorick has been alive for 5 years and never gotten any attention; boring to play, annoying to play against, useless past minute 15-20 and ryze is none of those. This is his 3rd update, more than any other champion to date and he just got one less than a year ago. Now that I'm done venting from my perspective, can someone please explain why I'm wrong and Ryze could possibly be a higher priority than the garbage collector--- I mean gravedigger...

They have two teams who do champion updates, as I understand it. One's working on Ryze, the other on Yorick.

But Ryze is scheduled to come out first and yorick is after him when originally ryze wasnt even on the schedule prior to sometime in like April, then he gets bumped up ahead of Yorick who i understood to be their highest priority.

Priority has nothing to do with it in this case. Yorick is a much larger project than Ryze, so he'll simply take longer to finish. So even though Ryze was started later, he'll be released first just because there's less work to be done. The teams working on these two reworks aren't interfering with each other at all.

The reason it bothers me, is because if yorick is finished rough'ly the same time as ryze, he will have to wait possibly a month longer just because Riot doesn't release them consistently. I read on one forum that Yoricks rework was estimated to be released early June, but now i wouldnt expect to see him before some time close to september. It makes sense what you said, but if they finish at the same time, yorick would have to take a back seat now would he not?

It's actually 3 teams. Two are just bigger and the third is smaller, so once one of the others is done they help out on the third

Personally, I don't mind them finally REALLY updating Ryze. He's had a few half-baked 'reworks' that just ended in him somehow being OP again anyway, and he still has one of the worst VOs in the game. (He sounds like a younger guy trying his best to imitate a crotchety impatient old man, and kinda missing the mark in both regards.)

There are two different teams working on the Champion Update team at Riot.

One of those teams is working on Yorick, while the other is working on Ryze.

Yorick requires a full visual and gameplay update, in particular to his kit's mechanics. Yorick has some severe counterplay issues and lack engaging gameplay, so he needs a lot of work to his kit the same way Sion or Poppy had.

Ryze is getting a visual update and has gameplay changes to accompany it. It's not a full rework the scale of Yorick, so he doesn't need as much work as Yorick does. As a result, Ryze is coming out first, but Ryze coming out first isn't delaying Yorick at all.

It's not that he's really a higher priority it's more or less that he's a smaller update so that's why he will end up being released ahead of Yorick. Plus with up to three teams they have the power to work on multiple champions at a time (Ryze, Yorick and Warwick).

Smaller update is why. Yorick's isn't getting delayed by any means, they're just filling the space between now and his with other stuff.

Read my reply to Gale, thanks for the reply though it makes a lot of sense.

Ryze's rework has zero effect on Yorick's. They are using completely independent resources.

If Yorick were to be released December 17th, 2016 before Ryze's rework was put on the schedule, then he will still be released December 17th, 2016 after Ryze's rework was put on the schedule. Note that Yorick does not have a concrete release date because Riot plans to only release him when he is finished but the factors for his timeline are still only related to how finished he is.

Fair enough', thanks for explaining. :)

This question is asked and answered multiple times per day and the people asking it always seem very charged with emotion about some kind of injustice that doesn't exist.

Yea but I addressed that I haven't had much time to read forums (in fact I'm at work right now---15th day straight Dx) and I wasn't flaming anyone for any replies. I just wanted to know the reason. I'm just a casual, spare me forums

The reason is becuse in pro play he's broken especially in the hands of faker. So in order to get ready for world's they have to release him asap to get him balanced.

Yea but aren't many champs "Broken" isn't that why we have a ban system in the first place? If you don't ban him then you choose to deal with it. I've seen champs have 90%+ ban rate in lcs and they didn't rush a rework on them.

Thats becuse they are good at a lot of things all at once but not broken. Ryze in the hands of faker makes it so you literally cant move. No one picks yorik tho
