People quick to defend one champ for an issue(s), but won't another for the same issue(s)?

For example,

There have been many, MANY threads calling for buffs for and rightfully so. She's been guttered for quite a long time now. People will point out the nerfs, itemization changes, win rates, etc for Kalista and why she is in the spot she is in now.

However, if you use the same approach to a champion like , people lose their minds and log smurf accounts to spam more down votes. I mean you can do the same to Lucian as you can with Kalista. You can look at nerf after nerf after nerf, the only build keeping him somewhat viable getting nerfed, and his win rate that is actually lower than Kalista's now. But if you say anything, people still insist that Lucian is fine or doesn't need buffs.

I honestly can't put my finger on it. I thought for awhile some champions are just going to be hated, but then I thought of how universally despised Kalista was when she was meta. Can anyone explain to me how its ok to want buffs for Kalista, but insist Lucian needs none? Or how any attempt to discuss Lucian is met with an onslaught of downvotes and negative comments?
