The blue tree is beating the green tree in terms of damage.
Tanks are using the blue tree instead of the green one for that little bit of extra damage.

Um...yeah?
The sorcery path is supposed to be for damage, so it should beat out a path built around being tanky

I recommend you read what aftershock and and grasp of the undying do before you make that assumption.
Both of those masteries also give tank stats though, so again, their damage should be lower than Sorc tree.
Except the Green tree is supposed to be a path to make tanky champs tankyer. Why on earth should it out preform a path that is supposed to add damage to champs?
Sure, aftershock and Grasp do damage, but Aftershock's main attraction is the % armor/mr after ccing someone, and Grasp allows someone to turn their health into a weapon.
It should not have a leg in the race when considering which tree to go for damage. There is no reason for it.
And people are using the green one over the blue one when they want extra defense.
Your point?

You can use the blue tree as primary and green tree as secondary. God how are you people this dumb?
Give an example of a tank that indeed takes sorcery as primary and resolve as secondary and then we can talk about whether it is actually used more over resolve as primary. Right now you're just making claims without pointing to details in specific runes.

It's just stuff I've noticed while play. People will use aery over grasp of the undying for example.

Riot was intending for the new system to be a "chose your playstyle" not balancing particular classes of champions around specific options.
Green tree (or any tree) wasn't meant for being the defacto choice for anyone, even for tanks.

This is the best answer I've gotten from anyone on the forums. You have my respect sir.
I use the yellow tree as primary and the green tree as secondary because 40% tenacity is fun.
Notice I didnt say damage.
Also nobody likes you now, reform back to URF plz. We loved and missed the non troll side of you

Sorry URF is my Father. Riot didn't like him, so they killed him off and were considering aborting me, but stole me from my mothers womb.
So?
The resolve tree isn’t primarily for damage my friend.
