with the death of ad malphite, the rise of AP malphite, full tank holy crap why wont you die malphite, and anti-carry tanky with burst malphite are EXTREMELY viable...so one door closed 3 doors rock smashed to pieces cuz malphite gives no shits about doors.

Diversity? I think you lack a comprehensive understanding of the word.

Contextually this opened build diversity for malphite because it improved his strength with AP items like RoA. Full AD malphite was a troll build, it was far from being a successful and healthy addition to his kit.

Full AD? Hydra, maw, maybe BT or frozen mallet and then tank was not a troll build nor unviable.

yeah but you just named a bunch of champs with AD scaling which are entirely irrelevant to the current conversation topic which is, in case you lost your way, Troll ad builds on AP scaling champs i.e champs that have no business building AD.

AD Malphite was just about as viable as old AP Malphite, though it was only ever good against auto attack based champions. In those matchups it did very well, but everywhere else it was a little lacking.

i played him a bit last night, i have to say i like where he is at. He now has really good options right now as a mega cc tank AND my personal favorite Anti-Carry Tank hybrid. I never got to finish his build due to surrendering wussies, lol, but:

its pretty amazing. plenty of armor, health, and mr with tenacity. extra slow, some cooldown (R.I.P. 20% cdr on spirit visage) extra cc and damage sheen proc and my favorite of all time, the super Troll ult knockup zhnoyas engage - troll - re engage combo

the bonus damage from his new passive is highlighted with the ability power items and the bonus armor makes up for the low armor items so you can build that extra ap while remaining tanky enough to brave bum rushing their back line

i dont miss ad malphite...not even a little

HE HAD A PASSIVE FREE HYDRA SCALING OFF AD PLUS AN ACTIVE GIVING HIM A 20% AD STEROID I know, it was a total AD steroid not bonus AD so stacking AD has diminishing returns, but it is negligible

I do, actually. I have every kit memorized almost completely.

Malphite never had the tools to afford NOT building tank (and AP in niche senarios) and even then, it was always completely outclassed by tank Malphite.

So, wait, are we talking full damage Malph (because that was just silly) or AD bruiser Malph? Because when I see AD malph I think of the 6 BT malph's I've seen in the past, and that's awful. If you mean like Hydra + Cleaver into tank, then I can understand your point, but I feel Iceborn Gauntlet has always been Malph's best damage item, and this is still the case.

I dunno why they didn't make the bonus damage scale off armor, but other than that I'm cool with it.

I obviously meant AD bruiser. Didn't use to take BC because he has too many iterations of magic damage and stacking it only with basic attacks is not that worth, but it's true that the new buildpath would maybe have helped with the movespeed. Hydra + maw / BT for double shield / frozen heart/guantlet into tank was my build, I am aware that slow stones can't afford to rely solely on basic attacks to be useful for the team.
