Grievous wounds is just a stupid mechanic

See grievous wounds balancing right now is analogous to riot stepping on a nail while building an out house nobody asked for, and rather than going to the doctor, riot paints the nail beige and just hopes one day it fuses with their foot and they can walk normally again. Just remove the fucking nail. Why are you dancing around the problem?

The sustain from supports + lifesteal on ADCs is insane, but fucking over people like Warwick, who have sustain built into the power budgets of their kit, by spreading grievous wounds to tanks to keep it in check is exactly what you shouldn't be doing. If every AD is going to build grievous, and every tank has grievous, and every AP has access to grievous (albeit in an incredibly awkward style of preventing almost no healing but lasting a whopping 8 seconds), what's the fucking point of even having the mechanic? Just cut healing/lifesteal by half and bam, you just simplified the game w/o taking away any depth. In fact you even killed off those games where your AD somehow doesn't build grievous vs soraka and everyone juts gets cancer.

Seriously what purpose does grievous wounds even serve other than as a lazy attempt at a one size fits all solution to the problem of sustain power creep?

Nobody wants to lose to every sustain duelist because they hit a 'critical mass' point (like WW) where they just start absorbing gobs of health.

Wounds is a necessary debuff and I'm not exactly sure what else you'd put in; otherwise, the sustain design becomes inherently broken because they just get health their opponent doesn't, who has to burst harder than X or be sustained out of most every kill.

It's a fine mechanic, but it's too much. WoW suffered the same problem. The game, specifically all healing, has to be balanced with it in mind. So when GW is not gotten, heals are too powerful. When it is gotten, heals are too weak, due to how powerful they are without GW.

It should be no higher than 25% (I think it should be 20%), with all heals (and items with GW) getting tweaked accordingly. It also shouldn't exist on items that people would get even if GW didn't exist.
