The Fervor Of Battle Changes Are Really Fucking Terrible ( Rant )

Alright. AD-Invested Champions are now able to choose between Deathfire Touch, Thunderlord's Decree, Stormraider's Surge, Warlord's Bloodlust and of course Fervor of Battle . . .

. . . and On-Hit Champions . . . what the fuck do you even pick on them now?

I mean just take Kayle for example. Thunderlord's sucks because she doesn't stack a lot of AD or AP to make space for more on-hit and attack speed and she isn't a burst champion, which also means that she can't take Stormraider's Surge, Her E doesn't proc Deathfire Touch either, Warlord's Bloodlust is also trash on her because she yet again does not have a lot of AD or crit to make use of it and she can't lifesteal off her E, she doesn't have any hard CC to proc Courage of the Colossus, because she doesn't stack any HP and because she's ranged most of the time she also won't take Grasp of the Undying and Bond of Stone and Windspeaker's Blessing are also out of question because she is not a fucking support.

Literally EVERY single Keystone is shit on her. And she's not the only one, just take every on-hit-based champion that doesn't have any good AD ratios.

I'm usually on Riot's side but honestly, what the fuck are they even thinking? Do Assassins and AD Casters need even MORE buffs after the rework of flat armor pen into lethality and the addition of Edge of Night? Is the only thing on-hit champions deserve this joke of an "Infinity Edge of On-Hit Builds" that Guinsoo's Rageblade is supposed to be and the horrible current state that re-reworked Kog'Maw is in right now?

I've been through a lot of shit and this is probably the second worst decision Riot made in the last 2-3 years, the first place going to the Mordekaiser rework.

I was wondering the same thing myself.

What are the OnHit focused champs supposed to be taking now? Fervor was perfect for them, but now it's basically a tool for Crit building auto-attackers. Previously it was a tool for auto-attackers in general. Riot said they wanted fewer generalist options and I guess that's the case now. But what are OnHit champs supposed to be doing now aside from bottling their own tears?

I don't think riot remembers that on-hit champions exist unless they are out of hand for some reason.

Too soon. Sorry I need a moment

I'm a Kayle main.....What changes are they making to Fervor ? It's not only the best Keystone for her...but the only one. No other makes any sense on her. I've tried Thunderlords on her before and while it gives her phenominal trading power in the early game, it's a huge waste after mid game because I like to build her AS/On-hit. So I'm curious....what are they doing to Fervor of Battle ?

Here's the reworked version of Fervor of Battle: Hitting champions with basic attacks generates a Fervor stack (2 for melee attacks, 2 seconds cooldown for ability hits). Stacks of Fervor last 4 seconds (max 10 stacks) and increase your AD by 1-6 for each stack.

So basically, right now it gives you 10-112 physical on-hit damage at max stacks based on level, as you already know.

New Fervor on the other hand not only needs longer to stack up since it's now stackable up to 10 times rather than 8 times, it also gives you 10-60 AD based on your level instead of the on-hit, which sucks for on-hit champions without any AD ratios because they will only get half the damage of what they would've previously gotten and they need to stack it longer.

There are only a handful of champions who actually profit from this change like for example Renekton. For the rest it's either the same or worse, and for Kayle, On-Hit Teemo, Warwick and Shyvana ( now that Strength of the Ages is also getting replaced by Courage of the Colossus, which is useless on WW and Shyvana ) it's basically a death sentence, since, as I said, there is literally no other keystone for them to pick from.

they are making it that you get ad instead of dmg onhit.

Thanks for the explanation.

Well, I'm not concerned anymore after reading that. Less damage yes, but I don't think Kayle will suffer that much. Her E is an extended auto and when you think about it, an auto is just an ability with a 1.0 AD scaling ratio so Fervor gives her damage the exact same way, only less of it per stack. An added benefit of this new Fervor is that her Q will become stronger since it has a 1.0 bonus AD scaling. 60 AD won't make that much of a difference late game but I guess it's something.

Ah yes, the patented "compound nerf". In addition to on-hit being gutted earlier, they have now nerfed it again in another of riots favorite balance tools. The compound nerf is a terrible thing, but eh. 60AD is still pretty good with 2.5ASP. especially if you go crit. item 3085 item 3046 item 3006 item 3091 item 3153 item 3031 that 60AD reliably becomes 120AD, and youre tanky with huge waveclear.

It is, however, not a very cost effective build or even terribly useful because youre down a LOT of power without a double-hitting guinsoos.

Draven and Vayne are gonna have a field day with that shit.

ArnoldSchwarzens1 votes

I know right? After the Q changes she doesn't really need another buff and Draven already has Warlord's Bloodlust which is equally good on him.

I feel so bad for Xin Zhao. Yet another nerf... -20% AS nerf patch 6.4, Devourer removal and Rageblade gutting patch 6.9, and now no more on-hit Fervor of Battle patch 6.22. when will Riot stop beating him into the ground? He's already dead, guys. He's been dead for eighteen straight patches now. What was the point of buffing him in patch 6.3 if you were just gonna nuke him entirely for the rest of the season?

On-hit focused champions are pretty much always too strong or too weak. But fuck old Fervor. That can just go die for all I care. But the way they handled the rework isn't probably optimal, I'll give you that.

Do you have any better ideas as to how to change it?

Change it to Magic Damage so most of the major abusers no longer get any help from Armor Pen.

The amount of damage it grants should still be less than old Fervor. But I like your idea, since MPen isn't as common, and iirc, the only flat MPen is Haunting/Liandry's.

The actual damage amount would need to be adjusted, probably. Level 1 MR levels are typically much higher than armor, too. So it would be losing a not insignificant amount of early game power. Late game, though, armor tends to be much higher than MR. So leave the level one damage alone, dial back the scaling damage a bit.

That would probably be sufficient to put it in line instead of turning it into another exclusive toy for Crit users.

Up to ~80, magic damage, fewer stacks again. Fix'd.

Thunderlords Kayle works just fine. Q-auto bam Thunderlords proc. And yes, it's not going to do tons of damage if you stack nothing but on hit items. Good thing that's been a bad idea for a while, right? The best Kayle players have already switched to heavy AP builds, and so should you.

Who are these "best Kayle players" you are referring to? The best ones I know of all go on hit.

The reworked fervor is probably a bit weaker if you don't build crit, before it could give 112 on-hit physical damage and required 8 stack, now it give 60 ad and need 10 stack. If you build a lot of crits i could be better lategame but i think this is a nerf to everyone expect adc, assassin don't have the time to stack fervor and ad caster need 10 seconds to completely stack fervor.
