Champion Reworks

TL;DR This is just about ideas I have on some champs that could make them better. Let the downvotes begin.

Amumu : Give him the Alistar treatment by putting his w on his passive. Whenever he gets hit by an aa he cries dealing damage in an area around him, you'd cry too if you got hacked by sword. The damage would be lower than his current w and it would leave his w open for an awesome new ability. In reality you don't do much after you q r e in a team fight. This passive is suppose to keep true to his "nobody like me" and "sad mummy" theme while giving him a shot at having a more intricate kit. Lux : Remove her w shield, it encourages diving plays as a squishy immobile mage which is kinda weird imo. I like her shield but it would be better on a strict support champion and would also allow her to be unique instead of the regular damage + shield mage. Instead change her w to reflect. Reflect creates sorta a Yasuo wall that bounces any of Lux's abilities off of it, delivering more on her light mage theme. A target cannot take damage twice from the same ability and reflect decreases any enemy projectile that goes through it by 10-15%. Karma : Change her w to a Jhin type situation. W passive takes 2 seconds to apply a debuff whenever Karma aa's or q's a champion. The debuff does nothing on its own but when Karma hits her w on a champion with the debuff w deals more damage and they are snared for .75 - 1.25 seconds. W is a wide cone, low damage ability that can be block partially by the first target hit (think of Vladimir's e ability). Mantra w can either heal Karma when she snares champions or champions are stunned instead of snared (idk which one would fit better). Mantra w on a champion without the debuff does nothing. This ability is suppose to be situational and Karma should still priorities mantra e>q>w. Morgana : This one is simple. Change her passive to apply a curse debuff on any champion hit with her abilities. Curse is applied if you have taken damage by her abilities in the last .25 seconds, if you are cc'd by one of Morgana's abilities, or if you are tethered during her ult. Curse reduces all healing by 20% and can be stacked with grievous wounds (the debuff is kinda bland but I'm worried anything else would be too oppressive).

So let me know what you think. I know "OTHER CHAMPS NEED REWORKS MORE! THESE CHAMPIONS ARE FINE. KARMA IS IN WORLDS ALL THE TIME, LUX IS OP, AND AMUMU DOESN'T NEED MORE DAMAGE HE'S MOSTLY A TANK" I get it, these are just suggestions. I really like these champions but I definitely think there is room for improvement. Tell me things that you think could be tweaked or post your own abilities you think other champs could get. Don't be too harsh.

The problem with Karma is not her W. The problem with Karma is that she has no identity and a confusing kit that plays like everything. Karma's Q and passive make her a poke mage. Karma's W+R make her a tank. Karma's shield and group shield make her a support. A lot of what Karma is supposed to be doing, is clouding what she is exactly supposed to be doing. Karma was originally designed to be a battlemage. Karma is supposed to be a battlemage that can be played as a support, because she can use her abilities on others. Riot practically ruined everything about her when they bottlenecked her as a support with the E+R changes.

The real problem with Karma is she has no direction and she has a kit that makes no sense. While it may be a balanced kit with good numbers, besides the overbuffed shields, the kit doesn't fit her theme and really doesn't give us a solid way to play Karma . . . . other than a shield bot.

The best way to fix Karma is:

  1. Change how her Mantra System works completely. There are better ways to do this than just make her play like a poke mage . . . . with one damage ability.

  2. Change her W+R so it makes sense for a battlemage and not a tank.

  3. Restore her shield bomb and remove her current E+R, which is heavily disliked by true Karma fans and old fans.

Adding a Jhin like passive to her W is not going to solve the problems Karma suffers from. She needs a solid direction and kit . . . . .

Give him the Alistar treatment by putting his w on his passive. Whenever he gets hit by an aa he cries dealing damage in an area around him, you'd cry too if you got hacked by sword.

Amumu - Your idea for Amumu seems like a good one, wouldn't be surprised if Riot decided to do this at some point.

Reflect creates sorta a Yasuo wall that bounces any of Lux's abilities off of it, delivering more on her light mage theme. A target cannot take damage twice from the same ability and reflect decreases any enemy projectile that goes through it by 10-15%.

Lux - I'd definitely say Lux a lot to be desired in the light mage design space, I'm not sure if that skill shot reflector is right for her though. How would it work? I'm imagining bouncing her Q and E, but what happens with her R?

Change her w to a Jhin type situation. W passive takes 2 seconds to apply a debuff whenever Karma aa's or q's a champion. The debuff does nothing on its own but when Karma hits her w on a champion with the debuff w deals more damage and they are snared for .75 - 1.25 seconds.

Karma - This proposal wouldn't do anything for her to be honest, it doesn't address her fundamental issues. Karma has been gutted of her theme and all of her unique abilities. Her original fans have been ignored since her rework and she has lost a lot of all of the core elements that made her Karma. At the moment her kit too unfocused, she has aspects of: an artillery mage, battle mage, disruptor and an Enchanter (one could argue burst mage too, but I won't go there). All she needs is to be built around being a battle mage/enchanter, this can be accomplished by:

  • Reintroducing her shield bomb - this skill was pretty much battle mage/enchanter in a nutshell.
  • Make RQ ground targeted so it's more reliable at closer ranges - it's easier to hit her current RQ at max range and encourages a hit and run poke playstyle. This is contrary to the nature of a battle mage.
  • RW should have an ally interaction, her old tether was ahead of its time but I believe an updated version of that could and should return. This spell also screamed battle mage/enchanter.
  • Move her current passive to her R.
  • Give her a new passive.

This one is simple. Change her passive to apply a curse debuff on any champion hit with her abilities. Curse is applied if you have taken damage by her abilities in the last .25 seconds, if you are cc'd by one of Morgana's abilities, or if you are tethered during her ult.

Morgana - This change seems to be quite thematic, I like that. It really captures that dark Enchanter aspect of her and thats awesome. +1.

Thanks for the feedback! When Alistar's small rework came out I immediately thought that Amumu would benefit from something like this. The Lux change was unrealistic and mostly spawned from the urge to see some uniqueness in her kit. The Karma w change was meant to change her linear play style and was more of a bandaid fix for now. I wouldn't even know where to begin with a full scale rework. I like the curse passive for Morgana too but I don't think reducing enemy healing is the way to go. Obviously a lot more to be done here but thanks for letting me know some good and some bad.

idk about others, but Amumu sounds really cool. His W and passive are pretty bland. What would his new W be, though? Some sort of fear would be cool I think, but I don't want to overload him with CC.

I think that one does show the most promise, I have no clue what you could do for his w though.

I like karma's change the most since it'd be a lot more intuitive than "oh look you took damage... oh look now your snared and I gained a buncha health

Thanks! That's why I wasn't sure if she should gain health back or stun. Currently her w makes her tanky when it should give her a way to cc but not too reliably. If her w was too easy to land then she would have too much going for her. She has good damage and shields and this idea was just to keep the cc in her kit but make it fun for Karma players to pull off while giving some counter play rather than the normal shield into tether.

Karma does damage? Karma doesn't have any damage besides very early game. She gets out scaled VERY badly by every other mage user. Karma is nothing more than a E+R shield bot late game and not really useful besides shields in mid game.

She does get out scaled, trust me I know, but early game she does have a great burst damage. Her role however has shifted from a damage mage support into more of an enchanter. Damage isn't the goal here considering she does such a good job at buffing her allies with shields and ms, she would become too versatile of a champion if her w did good damage as well.

Bearing in mind that is exactly what she was designed to do. This early game mage/late game support curve is an unintended side effect of her grossly misguided 5.10 update.

I think the curse passive would be better as an ult passive rather than on her normal passive because then her sustain would be hit quite a bit and I feel that her sustain is an important aspect of her that helps insanely in a lot of her matchups

Grevious wounds is extremely toxic. If every champ has it inherently, or the grev wounds items are just better than other options it's bad. It would drown out a bunch of healing champs as a whole. Grev. Wounds needs to be tailored onto out-of-the-way items, and not something that you can just buy everygame without hindering your DPS. (Mortal Reminder, for instance; All ADCs are going to get at least one armor pen item, and, as tradition dictates, it's going to be a last whisper item. Grev. Wounds is just an added bonus; the cherry on top. The argument would probably be that you're sacrificing potential dmg in giant slayer. Giant slayer, too, is an unnecessary cherry on top making tanks easy to kill.)
