Demotion Shield Expiring: Guess I'm Not Playing for 7 weeks?

Last season, I had the unfortunate experience of getting up to Gold 2 only to encounter a crazy losing streak that threw me back into Silver. Because of that, I ended the season Silver 1 and didn't get the Orianna skin. Sad.

So now like clockwork, I climbed up to Gold 2 and over the last week have hit the same crazy loss streak. I'm now Gold 4, 0 LP, and a warning that says "Demotion Shield Expiring."

I've seen this movie before and know how it ends. So, I guess this means my only recourse is to quit playing League until the season ends? (Normals are boring, people aren't consistently playing to win).

Feels like end of season rewards should be based on highest rank and not final rank. Otherwise it just encourages people to quit playing Ranked games to protect their rewards, Gold 4, Plat 4, whatever.

hey at least you dont lose the skin at soon as i hit gold im gonna be at your side. since gold is the pinnacle of the skin instead of earning the rank gives you it. if you lose your gold rank you lose the skin quite a obscene cost.

Or you can just play normal games which are the exact same as ranked games

It's risk and reward. Not everyone ends the seasons on losing streaks. And if you're not afraid to play ranked you shouldn't be afraid of potentially losing

You're safe from demotion until the warning triangle turns Red.
