Thanks to unneeded and ridiculous nerf to her Q's AP ratio, she has the lowest AP ratios out of all mages. Even support champions have better AP ratios than her. So are we supposed to build her tank now? Because there is no reason to play her AP when she's hugely outclassed by other utility mages now. 
Riot kinda did the wrong thing. What they should have done was lower the base damage on the ability, and slightly increase the AP ratio. That way she cant go tank, but at the same time it doesnt affect her mid or support a whole bunch.
Y’know now she reminds me a lot of Maokai. Ones just ranged and a kiter while the other’s melee and has more CC

So uh yeah... great job making her like one of the most definite tank champions in the game I guess.
Her RQ ap ratio was also nerfed from 60% to 40%, just not stated on patch notes.
The issue is that her q was one shorting people including tanks. She needed nerfs for a while now.
The excuse was to nerf her top lane viability mostly, so she's not such a versatile pro pick. In case they needed to know - Q damage ratio is not how you do that. If anything nerf the W... nerfing the Q (main and pretty much only source of damage) by a whole 20% guts her entirely in ALL roles, MAINLY support and mid, because thats what makes her shine. Why support karma now, for a shield - Janna has that beat, and now Janna does more damage than her too lol... Gutted for no reason
Also - They nerfed her because she was a flex pick. Her winrate is average pro and normal, and she isn't even that strong nor the biggest playmaker. She was solely nerfed because champ select.. lmfao...
Sadly Karma was having too much fun Mid-lane so Daddy Riot took her toys away. Now she can't even support decently anymore because any other mage would be a better pick. I pray that this change either be reversed or changed in the future.
Riot is pretty much giving her the kayle treatment. She isn't allowed to play anywhere so here we go awaiting her rework (again)
typically mages build ap... karma is to riots expectation not a mage, but a support.. they expect people to build utility items. 
you know support stuff not 
supports dont need to worry about scaling in pro play, the games are almost usually over before a support will see 5 items
(and before you say "this patch affects us too" yes while it does this is the patch they will be playing on at worlds so dont expect to see any mage karmas at worlds, maybe next patch they might undo it but this is how riot is setting the meta in stone for worlds)

Haven't played rift in probably 2 years (League in about 1 - came back to try tft), but wasn't tank Skarma already a thing thanks to the %heal on tether?
You wanna talk about sylas 3 lane flex? What about karma 4 lane flex, she can literally play top, mid, APC, support. Crazy enough support is her least played role in pro play. She is absolutely the most annoying thing in top lane in both soloque and proplay. I remember about a month ago when the entire audience booed when karma was picked.
Well, she was a support mage to begin with but yea I get your point. she doesn't fit in anywhere except maybe an off-tank with her empowered heals and her shield. She'd probably be really good with Shojin too.
now ? she was for dozens of patches there to abuse melee champions with her opressive cc and healing from W
it was just a pain to play against a bruiser or tank karma
