Will the rage blade buff make rageblade great again

Guinsoos rageblade is probably one of the worst items in the game. It is now gaining 25% attack speed. That's without stacks. It's only seen on jax and maybe Xin Zhao. It's rarely built. This increases the value from 5039 to 5639 at max stacks. It costs 3600. The current efficiency is 140% The new efficiency will be 156% The old value was 180% still a bit more than the new value. So we used to see it on jax, tryndamere, yi, kayle, Xin Zhao, and even sometimes shyvana for a full DPS build. I know tryndamere used it for the better splitpush but that's gone. Jax actually has on hit and Xin actually has an attack that procs every 3rd hit. Same for yi with double strike. Warwick used it but now if he stacks it before he ults, that's an extra 12% of the enemy's max hp and it allowed him to attack super fast and have so much regeneration on his passive. Will we see it again on some of these champions avian. Also will shyvana come back as the 1v3 beast she was in solo queu if she builds it.

Gold efficiency wasn't the problem for the item (back when it really sucked before it got reworked, it reached well over 200% gold efficiency), the problem was that after the nerfs it lost base stats once completed. This makes it currently feel really awful to build since you go from having decent flat stats to having awful flat stats and a chance for good stats if you ramp up enough.

The key here is base gold efficiency, or how much it's worth without stacks.

  • Before this buff comes out, it's worth 1225+1087.5+375=2687.5 gold at base stats (35 AD, 50 AP, 15 on-hit damage), for a gold efficiency value of only 74.7%
  • With the buff, it's worth 1225+1087.5+375+625=3312.5 gold at base stats (35 AD 50 AP, 15 on-hit damage, 25% AS), for a gold efficiency value of 92.0%

This buff basically makes it so it isn't a trash item when completed, since you're already investing heavily into getting the passives. The sub-optimal base gold efficiency keeps it from being to broken when stacked, but before it was too much of a handicap and felt bad to use. I'll probably go back to using it on certain synergistic champs again after this buff, but it's not going to be broken like last preseason.

That's kind of what I was saying. Would it be a good item since you dont lose stats and I can see it on top lane shyvana but I'm unsure about it. I'm not sure about warwick

guinsoo does not work with warwick ult, it works strictly on auto attacks.

It works when stacked all the way because phantom hit is on hit. I know because I saw the phantom proc on the ultimate during the sated devour era. If your talking about the stacks, this are on attack. Not on hit. I already knew things like ww's ult and shyvana's q wouldn't stack it.

That is news to me. I will look it up myself.

EDIT: NOPE, even when warwick fully stacks guinsoo, then ults- he will NOT proc onhit affects more than 5 times.

Wierd, it did that with sated devour. The phantom proc would pop up so i assumed it also procked any on hit items I had on top of his ult procing those items. [Edit] I saw a double procs Hydra with it during the ult 6 months ago. I just remembered

Even the wiki confirms, it doesn't work.

umm its not but okay. how is gaining ad and attack speed bad ? the onbly real issue is the fact they nerfed/changed fervor of battle

Not a chance. It was trash, and will remain trash for the foreseeable future.

Here's the problem with it: in the past, you expected most if not all rageblade users to have fervor of battle as a source of on-hit damage. This gave a certain amount of increased value to rageblade. You could count the enhancement of Fervor as part of rageblade's value. WIth the fervor changes, rageblade doesn't have that value anymore, and 25% attack speed doesn't come close to making up for that.

If it wasn't good last season why you had fervor of battle to enhance with rageblade, then it absolutely won't be good now that you don't. I actually think the item is in an even worse spot than it was last season.

If it was bad, why were so many dominate champions building it like yi, udyr, tryndamere, jax, etc. This is pre 6.9. post 6.9 ruined it.

It was a completely different item back then. It hasn't been good since phantom hit was added, and it's still crap right now.

So Master Yi with a guinsoo's and bloodrazor alone reaches 2.5 attack speed late game when using highlander and with 29% attack speed in his runes.

Is that enough to make it good on him? I'm not sure. I'm gonna try it out some more in real games, see how I like it.

Well here's how I see it. The typical Xin Zhao build is to go Bloodrazor + one damage item into tank items. Rageblade costs 3600 gold. Triforce costs 3733 gold. At the end of the day, which damage item would you rather have in your inventory?

For me, I'd rather have the multiple burst damage, cooldown reduction, and tankiness from Triforce rather than the promise of more attack speed and damage a few seconds after the fight starts with Rageblade. Triforce just fits my playstyle more.

Others may think differently.
