New sej does too much damage, but doesn't feel satisfying to play.

Landing her R and Q feels like they don't do anything, all her power is focused in being a stun bot with E and crazy damage with passive. Honestly why? Why would you put so much damage into a tank's kit, and make her most powerful cc reliant on teammates' champion picks?

Here's what I think they should do at this point

  • Revert the rework
  • Remove shatter damage all together, just fuck it, get it off the kit. It's not a good idea.
  • Remove melee allies stacking, terrible idea in the first place
  • Add some extra damage on W, make it magic, reduce the CD a little
  • Increase Rs damage a little
  • Remove the R stun restricting the E stun after it ends, make it reset all stacks and make enemies immune to stacks while stunned but let Sej stack out of R
  • Let Q stack E and let R stack E on both impact and detonation in the AOE

What do these changes do? They shift power away from her allies and to herself, make W the main damage ability and give you more incentive to use R to engage rather than just saving it as a second stun/nuke. They also make the R feel less worthless, right now it's basically a bad Lissandra ult.

Divewing1 votes

As much as I really enjoyed playing Sej (seem to be the lone ranger in this regard), and as satisfying as the shatter damage is, I'd rather have everything you listed here, especially the ult-locks-out-permafrost thing. I wasn't expecting that and it feels rather obnoxious..

But the W is awesome, LOVE THAT SHIT

GelsominoKiller12 votes

Too much of her power budget is in the ability to let melee teammates stack frost.

If you play her in a full ranged team, she's underwhelming.

If you play her in a melee-heavy team, she's overbearing.

Tobias Brackner3 votes

Too be honest I like that they are having champions that synergize stronger with certain kinds of attack types. Kind of like how Ardent Censer is stronger with a AD heavy team.

LankPants3 votes

That's not a champion Einstein, it's an item.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Way to not read my comment. I'll let you get a second crack at it before I hold your hand through my comment.

LankPants2 votes

Did you read your own comment? What you did was frankly retarded. You compared Sejuani, a champion to Ardent Censer, an item.

There's no other champion in the game who has these sorts of interactions, so no, your comment is just incorrect.

GelsominoKiller2 votes

I can agree... until a certain treshold.

Right now, if you don't have enough melees in your team, you should never pick sejuani.

DemiluniS3 votes

That was the intention, to make her less of a generalist

Voluug131 votes

But she is still underwhelming, she was shoved into a niche that other champions do just as well when she is with a full melee team.

And lets be honest if generalists are bad then why Ahri Lucian LeeSin still exist?

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

Lee has till preseason to live before getting either his arms(damage/ulitity) or legs(mobility) chopped off.

Ahri, despite popular belief, can't burst someone. Her passive is awful and her waveclear is merely okay for mage standards. That is enough to make her not a generalist.

Lucian has no utility. At all. He is just damage. Only problem is that he is strong at every stage of the game AKA season 3 Graves.

WinTheWarOnPants2 votes

She is honestly trash if you don't have melee teammates. You can kinda do things in a 1v1, but once the fight has more than one enemy she is worthless. If you have 1 or multiple melees(that actually fight with you) she is a freaking GOD!

Big Lincoln6 votes

why was she turned into a lockdown tank?

Amumu Nautilus Leona Skarner Rammus Gnar aren't enough?

newSej didn't accomplish a thing. her niche has been replaced with shit other champs already excel at, and they covered it up with gimmicky "synergy" with melee allies.

SpecterVonBaren23 votes

What? She's always been a lockdown tank, if you're going to complain, complain about how Maokai is now like all those other tanks with the new generic aoe CC ult.

Big Lincoln14 votes

no she wasn't, she was a slow debuff tank with a good initiate

Dextix LT6 votes

So, she was a lockdown tank?

Teridax689 votes

I'd say Amumu and Gnar are both AoE disruptor tanks as well, but other than that Lincoln's right: Sejuani's function has always been to provide team-wide threat and CC. Her rework took that away by making her mostly good at locking and bursting a single target down, while being largely ineffective at threatening more than one enemy at a time. Rammus is currently going through the opposite treatment, losing some of his single-target threat in exchange for AoE disruption. Effectively, Sej lost some of her old identity for no discernible reason and got put into a niche already covered by a very large number of other tanks.

Kuronii Lumiira3 votes

She doesn't do enough damage, in my opinion. I would have preferred seeing her W apply frost stacks as well. It's honestly annoying having to rely on your teammates to assist you in getting stacks enough to E someone, and it's the one thing I disliked about playing Braum as well.

EndlessSorcerer32 votes

Sejuani's W does apply frost stacks.

Kuronii Lumiira2 votes

It does? I honestly haven't noticed that. I feel like I've had to basic attack people at least four times when I'm not with teammates. Maybe I'm somehow not hitting them with a point-blank W..?

Ark Sorcerer3 votes

Her W does Lumiira.

I just played a game with Sejuani, and boy did her team fight potential drop sooo much. Being able to only stun one target is bad enough but having to know that getting distance on her ult to get the "storm" portion is tricky. I mean, I can learn that in a few games with her but it is unsatisfactory to play her like this.

Kuronii Lumiira4 votes

Yeah, that ult problem is the biggest niggle I have with her rework. I mean, I kinda like her W, since it scales nicely with health, and is on a short enough cooldown, but it's harder to hit unless you're right on them. However, it's the fact that I can stun only one person with the ult and -have- to hit long-range to get the storm for a better teamfight that upsets me. Why is a -tank-, a champion that will be in your face at all times, being forced to walk away from a teamfight to get the max range on an ability to have full teamfight potential? And who is even going to be able to get to an entire team fast enough while they're in the ult storm if you use it for engaging?

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Her previous W also scaled off her health. I do not know the difference in ratio but it did.

You do not have to max range her ult, just get it beyond 200 units I believe. It is unfortunate that one should be some distance away before ulting. I mean, I stole Baron before her rework and ulted after dashing in to see the enemy and ult the jungler. Here, it seems I should ult before I dash through the wall, not that it matters because only one person can be stunned!!

Also, this W is soooo weak, they had to make the damage increase against monsters (or did they change that? I do not think they did). It is rough. Her kit has little synergy with itself.

LankPants1 votes

Her previous W also scaled off her health. I do not know the difference in ratio but it did.

Old W was 12% max HP, new W is 7%.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Thanks. So nice to that also got a nerf.

Gixia1 votes

If you're running out of a fight and throwing R back into it for the storm instead of throwing your R before you go in in the first place, then you're doing it wrong. Also, the distance on her R you need to be at for the storm is 400. Q range is 650. If you use R to engage and can't get in there in time, you're doing it wrong again.

LankPants3 votes

Actually the correct play right now is often to hold R and use it to double proc your passive. I quite often find myself using R as a simple single target nuke since it nets you so much extra damage, that's not to say that's it's only use case, but it's certainly a major one.

BenParadox1 votes

I kind of feel like both could (and maybe even should) be major use cases. You could ult in someone's face for an easy nuke, or use it before you get too close to get the storm (albeit at the risk that any nearby teammates will peel you off of the target until the stun ends, or at least shield them to mitigate the damage).

Gixia1 votes

That's totally fine if you don't care about the storm in the moment and want to REALLY fuck over one specific target. My response was more intended to people bitching about wanting the storm effect while already being in the fray, though I suppose I could've worded it better.

Spoofghoul2 votes

It's actually a good ult for preventing disengages now

You can engage with it still but if they try to disengage you can now throw it and create a massive slow zone and stun one of them

It's also how i use Sion's ult quite often, oh they try to disengage by throwing a nami ult, naaaah i don't think so

ult right through and mess them up, nobody's leaving this fight lol

You can do a similar thing with seju ult now since it will slow for a while at like 80%, you aren't leaving that fight, you simply can't

LankPants1 votes

Her old ult just stunned everyone though. If you used it to disengage you just stunned up the enemy team. It was legit just better in every single case and it's just lead to Sej's ult feeling watered down and shit.

Spoofghoul1 votes

I was talking about stopping disengaging enemies

I think it's better for that now then the old ult was with the giant slow field

in all other cases the old ult was probably better i agree with that

LankPants1 votes

Stunning 3 enemies is a stronger deterrent than stunning 1 and slowing 4. Even if 2 guys are left unCCed are they really going to engage on your team? The 4 slowed guys have a better shot at getting an engage than the 2 guys with no CC on them.

MrryZ1 votes

Riot stated that the point of her rework was to move power from her old super strong ult into other parts of her kit and nerf the ulti as a result

It disagree that it scales nicely with health. The ratios are very low and almost every item has been nerfed with health.

Today I learned that 'niggle' is a word.

Lol.. Sej mains finally get a reliable stronger Sejuani and they are asking to nerf her. Aatrox would kill to be as useful as Sejuani was, it's hilarious.

EndlessSorcerer4 votes

Overtuned doesn't necessarily mean well-designed or enjoyable.

It just means her numbers will be nerfed into the ground and we are left with a clunky kit.

Darth West3 votes

I see nothing at all wrong with her power currently. I played against her and I played as her, her clear now is perfectly fine and healthy. (Props to Riot for finally making her clear manageable)

I personally am happy that Lee Sin will finally think twice before counter ganking my world now, since I can actually do something against this guy who is played 1,000 times in a row.

When I thought of Sejuani long ago, I seen a person who was camped by 3-4 people in the jungle warded non stop because EVERYONE knew how easy she was to trash early game, preventing her from even reaching late game.

If they nerf her, they should feel horrible since she's actually more playable to counterganks now.

But yeah, let's complain about Sejuani guys. -clap clap- We'll see how much people cry when she's nerfed and unchanged when she's actually not that bad currently.

LankPants2 votes

I see a lot wrong with her power currently. I've legit carried 4 games in a row now all with S and S+ ranks from both top and jungle. In the hands of someone who understands her and specifically what bullshit they need to be building Sejuani currently is absurdly strong. Once things like EotW on Sej jungle and Attack Speed on Sej top start to catch on a bit more and the community works her out I think she'll be pick/ban.

Big Lincoln3 votes

https://i.gyazo.com/2a7a1af0941c96f755382d074197e9b3.png

lol i wonder why people think she needs nerfs

Darth West1 votes

Her pick/ban rate is high due to her rework being released literally yesterday.. Although her win rate is questionable since it's only been one day, not giving people a chance to know how to abuse her.

To early to decide, played her and she felt "Decent". I played against her and she felt "Decent". Not weak, but also not to strong.

LankPants2 votes

http://lolalytics.com/champion/Sona/

I suppose we should gut Sona too then? She's well above 50% and has been for ages.

While I agree Sej is too strong right now citing winrate isn't really the best way of showing that. She was pretty much guaranteed to see a spike in winrate assuming her winrate wasn't abysmally weak TBH.

Big Lincoln3 votes

Sej is the only one who's winrate has spiked overnight. Zac's tanked below 40 and Maokai is in roughly the same spot

And it's not just her winrate; her pick rate went from 2 to 12% and her ban rate is 20 and climbing. Sona is at 5-6 pick rate, a comparatively smaller number.

Darth West1 votes

Um.. Sona has a pick rate of 5-6 currently because she hasn't had any MAJOR changes yet lol, so that isn't a good example.

Of course her pick rate would sky rocket, it's not rocket science. (She literally just got a rework, people are trying her out.)

Maokai was expected to fall, just for the fact of how bad his new ultimate is.. In my opinion.

LankPants2 votes

Of course Sej's winrate spiked and the other two didn't, she got buffed while they didn't. Arguably she did need buffs more than them, Maokai may have even needed a relative nerf TBH. I do agree the rework went to far, but seeing Sej's winrate go up was expected.

And it's not just her winrate; her pick rate went from 2 to 12% and her ban rate is 20 and climbing.

http://lolalytics.com/champion/Rakan/

Would you look at that, when a champ's new their pickrate and banrate tend to be high. Zac and Maokai both saw spikes in playrate too, but far smaller which is once again expected because the changes were far smaller.

Big Lincoln2 votes

and Rakan's average winrate is terrible

i would expect heavy damage nerfs to Sejuani. at least to champions; a champ who has CC on all 4 of her spells shouldn't be nearly as bursty as she is now

either that or nerfs to her stun potential, but if you're gonna do that then there was no point in changing her CC specialty to begin with

LankPants2 votes

and Rakan's average winrate is terrible

Really not the point, the point is that new champs have high pickrates completely regardless of strength.

i would expect heavy damage nerfs to Sejuani. at least to champions; a champ who has CC on all 4 of her spells shouldn't be nearly as bursty as she is now

I wouldn't be surprised, I do think she's a bit to strong right now. I do think you're overestimating how much by though.

BakedLotion3 votes

Was there even any problem with the old sejuani? The new one feels like she isn't even a teamfighting monster anymore. She used to be able to 5 man slow and stun and consistently put out aoe damage but now she can only lock down one person, and doesn't even have any SLOWS anymore. Why does an ice themed champion not have any slows???

She felt more like a leader with her old kit, charging into a team. Now all she does is wait for the adc to somehow step into the frontlines and stun her lmfao

The Deckowner3 votes

All she needed was a bit of buff to her sustain so she doesn't get fuck by camps early game, not sure why they reworked her.
