Normal MMR doesnt use ranked MMR.

So normal games shouldn't be fair and enjoyable?

Pika Fox2 votes

They are fair and enjoyable. If the diamond player is matched against the silver, it most likely means they dont play normals often.

Normals has no restriction on who you can play with. If a challenger player plays with their friend who is brand new to the game, who will they be matched up against? How do you balance for that?

Normal games arent going to be super fair. Its literally not possible.

Just had this guy as my supp,he's lvl 32,i was plat last season,i dont think its fair,we somehow won,he had 0/7,but its frustrating to play with someone who autos minions all the time, accidentally flashes into 2 people, doesnt know when to stun, when to fight, when to run,its like letting a 5 year old play.

I cant imagine how this is enjoyable for someone to play with https://i.gyazo.com/7ec8c471d30fd10906fad89a71fe62d1.png Maybe its better for this kind of players to be paired with one another so they can learn

If you want something resembling fair matches according to ranks, play ranked.

Like i already said, just cause its a normal game doesn't mean you should get someone that had a cumulative score of 4/69 in his last 6 games, sometimes you just want to try some new champs, new lanes,or just have a chill game, that doesn't mean its okay to get a bronze 5 team mate going up against a dia1 and then he proceeds to stomp everyone in the game and finish by minute 22,thats not fun or enjoyable

Mysticman891 votes

Then get to a normals mmr where that's unlikely to occur, or play in a premade.

They're either in a premade themselves (which seems most likely, although you don't have a link to the match to investigate), or they've just had an unlucky streak but usually do well and so actually do belong at that mmr, or they have a terrible mmr and your own normals mmr is low (in which case playing more yourself would fix it).

The first option seems most likely to me and theres really not a reasonable solution to it (and isn't necessarily somethitng to be fixed, as being able to play with different skill level players is part of the point), and the latter two are things that fix themselves over time since everyone will end up at an mmr where they win ~50% of the time for whatever they typically use the queue for.

play in a premade.

That's not an option for everyone. Some people have no friends. Some people have friends, but they live in different time zones so it's hard to get together and play.

Not to mention a lot of high elo premades only get together for the express purpose of stomping low elo players and trash talking them afterwards. They abuse the system for their own sadistic gains, deliberately playing normal games as little as possible so that when they've had a bad day, either IRL or in their ranked games, they can take it out on the low elo players they get matched with in norms. They crush the weak to boost their own ego, and it sickens me every time I see it happen.

Mysticman891 votes

I agree it's not an option for everyone (I almost exclusively solo myself), but it is an option in the general sense.

In practice the idea is to simply accept in normals that theres going to be a wide range of player skill levels in any given game.

High elo premades as you describe as certianly frustrating to face, but they'll either end up at a high normals mmr, or they throw games as often as they stomp them. (Or they don't play very much in the first place.)

Sucks to be you for that single game? The system works. It literally cant just go "oh you were diamond let me make a game with the only other diamond playing normal ever", and it gets worse if, again, they queue with a first time friend. Is the newbie sjpposed to play against diamonds now in a 2hr+ queue?

Percentages1 votes

Ranked is the same way...

Pika Fox1 votes

No? A diamond cant queue with a silver.

I know for a fact my ex did, ever heard of a smurf account?

Pika Fox1 votes

Yes because matchmaking should be able to tell youre smurfing with 0 match history..... Smurfing is entirely irrelevant to the conversation at hand.

It just makes your statement false. Diamonds can in fact, queue with silvers, the way that they do it is “irrelevant”... no the system doesn’t work you Rito tongue puncher. Do I believe this kids story? No. But are you attempting to be a smug condescending ass about it? Yes. To say that the system is working is beyond the heights of folly.

Pika Fox1 votes

The system works fine, your suggestion is pure absurdity as theres 0 way to handle smurfs instantly. The system deals with them well over a few games.

There's literally posts on here of people who boast about being reported hundreds of times with no ill effect, they've made an art form out of it, so i'd say you are dead wrong, but hey, ignorance is bliss. I just got done reading on where they post link to their reddit or w/e abut how they've been practicing finding out the exact "key words" that the machine will act on, and ways to be the maximum troll to no ill effect.

And your weak ass lame defense of the report system is nothing short of laughable. Nothing you have said even comes remotely close to the truth, keep your head in the sand if you want. I guess you really can't fix stupid...

Sorry if the truth hurts. If you wanna be a jerk, you get banned. Si.ple as that.

If a bronze happens to queue with a diamond, in normals that should be allowed so people can play with their friends. Even if everyone has an appropriate mmr that won't change the perceived fairness of such a mix.

Even without premades, normals mmr and ranked mmr should be different because people tend to play different things at different levels, and normals is usually a good place to practice something new. A diamond support main for example may only be a silver or gold level top laner, and so their normals mmr might correctly being at a silver ish level despite have a diamond ranked mmr.

If they're winning more than 50% of the time, their normals mmr will go up until they are in a elo where they win ~50% of the time.

normal matchmaking care about getting you into a game as fast as possible. There aren't that many diamonds that probably play normal any diamond+ player that Q will just get put into a random game.

Is this for real? Was he diamond last season and dropped to gold? I’ve seen plat in silver games a couple times but never diamond. Unless you’re playing norms. Cause norms MMR is different from Ranked. Imaqtpie hasn’t played a norm game in forever so if he did he could possibly get paired up against silvers and golds.

HàrrowR1 votes

It was a normal game but never the less that doesn't mean its okay for me to lose 25 minutes of my life playing a game where darius is going around 1v5 cause he got a lane vs some beginner player

Jarring1 votes

meh. i frequently find challenger/master/diamond/plat in my normals and i've never played a ranked game of LoL in my life. this is all too common, and i don't give a damn. it's just luck of the draw.

Bobloser35551 votes

thats strange that you never play ranked. I usually always do I find it more fun and the teams are more balanced because you dont get such a high player elo discrepancy.

Jarring1 votes

i started playing LoL due to dota 2 being too stressful and needed an easier more laidback casual moba to play. playing ranked would just defeat the purpose.

Sucks when that happens, but sometimes it's funny. I went against a plat Kat one trick who finished diamond last season with my Diana and wrecked her. Wasn't a bought account or anything xD.

I wouldn't mind going up against diamond/plat players if my TEAM were diamond and plat too, but when you look at you teams, see 3 silver and 2 unranked while the opponents are 3 gold, 1 silver and a plat/diamond you do start to question what matchmaking is is based on. According to op.gg (I know its not entirely accruate) their team mmr was a just over 400 more than ours...
