Taric's Unique Support Role

What will be Taric's defining role as a support? Like is he going to be League's "Best Close Combat Support", in the same vein as Soraka being the best healer or Ashe being League's premier utility ADC? Will they keep his Armor Aura because I liked how that helped with his identity?

I think his kit will be somewhat the same as it is now. Aura's galore. There may be a few tweaks, a new ability or two, but I don't think gameplay wise, he is a Sion level project. Visually is where I think the designers are having the most work. They want to visually remaster him and that involves updating all of his in game animations, his in game model, his VO, his ability icons, all skins, and possibly his splasharts.

They have stated that they want to fit his theme as a noble and kind protector, so he will probably still have his heal or a shield to fit with that, and I think his W is what kind of defines Taric. This armor stacking monster against high AD comps. They might think about giving Taric more tools to stick to his targets, but they might do something that will surprise me and change up the way I play Taric.

I think he should be the best fighter of all the supports. We have tank supports and mage supports and even just support supports, but we don't have any fighter supports except Taric (thresh tries to be, but he is mostly a utility support). he isn't so much about being a bodygaurd like Alistar or Braum, he is more about keeping his ally healthy and then wreaking havoc on the enemy team with his DPS while being hard as heck to kill. His passive is actually like a tanky version of Riven's, just with a CD reduction built in, and that rhythmic Spell>AA>Spell>AA>Spell>AA cycle just feels glorious. Tarif is a late game support. He is just there to keep you from dying early game, but late game he gets himself fed off of supports, kills, and sometimes split pushing and turns into an unkillable DPS powerhouse for a support. Keeping him very fighter like also keeps him viable in alternate roles, like top and jungle, which is always a good thing.
