If you are an adc don't get the blue buff

I'm sick of seeing adcs take everything they possibly can because they are do selfish. Also you ad mid laners. If you have an ap jungle give it to them. Use your brains

If you have a caster ADC Lucian and caster AD mid like Jayce it might be applicable to give them at least one blue buff

Get. Essence. Reaver. Holy. Fuck.

I am sick of explaining it to people.

Sometimes the champion doesn't synergize well with Essence Reaver or can't fit it into their build without sacrificing something important (i.e. Ezreal, Jayce).

Sometimes they can't afford to build it early in their specific match-up (i.e. They need to rush Hexdrinker against LeBlanc or a Corki/Annie lane for survivability).

Sometimes the match-up doesn't allow them the lee-way to constantly autoattack the minion wave and they need to farm with their abilities lest they be horribly murdered (either during laning or sieges).

Sometimes the mid-laner is just feeding and can't be trusted to hold onto a Blue Buff without dying and giving it to the enemy team.

The situation is never that cut-and-dry.

Quite frankly, I will give Blue Buff to whoever I believe will be the most helpful with it.

  • If that means giving it to the AP mid-laner with waveclear and poke, I will.
  • If that means keeping it as a mana-intensive jungler (AP, AD or tank), I will.
  • If that means giving it to the support or ADC, I will.

wait wait wait you would actually give blue to support! But none of them would have useful spammy AP abilities that can make plays!

Leona Morgana Sona Annie Alistar Blitzcrank Janna Lulu Taric Soraka Velkoz Zilean Zyra

actually, as zyra support i am given bluebuff lategame on a regular basis! granted its the enemy bluebuff most of the time but still...

lol thats the joke. If anything late game and even mid game supports seem to get the best use of blue. They usually arent being focused, they throw utility at teamates like it is going out of style, they are the number 1 save your butt player, and when has it ever hurt to be able to constantly stun/spam shield/heal/boost allies as or MS.

plus I play Taric a lot atm. If he gets blue a lot for early fights that means he can focus earlier on tankier items without CDR( not that there are that many of those anymore tbh) and he can shield stun spam a heck of a lot more often.

But I won't be a jerk and just take it if someone else wants it. Happy teammates tend to play better :D

Sometimes the champion doesn't synergize well with Essense Reaver or can't fit it into their build without sacrificing something important (i.e. Ezreal, Jayce).

6 item build Jayce: manamune, infinity edge, black cleaver, youmuu's, essence reaver, cdr boots. That isn't my six item build mind you, but it's a working example, and the youmuus is easily replacable with Maw of Malmortius, Mercurial Scimitar, Bloodthirster, or Death's Dance, all good survivability items that in no way interfere with that process. Mana problems have never been a concern of mine with Jayce, as I also build triforce on him which gives him more mana.

Sometimes they can't afford to build it early in their specific match-up (i.e. They need to rush Hexdrinker against LeBlanc or a Corki/Annie lane for survivability).

Most caster adc's have mobility: Corki w, Lucian e, Jayce's passive along with his e for disengage, and Ezreal's e to get out of hairy situations. Annie is highly susceptible to poke from all of those champions save for maybe Jayce because his q isn't always the easiest thing to land. Point is those lanes can be played around, and if they're really that troublesome, why are they spamming their spells and running out of mana to begin with. They should play safe and remain under tower so they can receive a gank and get gold that way, and I will camp the fuck out of a lane that is constantly pushed.

I am not giving up early jg xp or sacrificing my own mana pool for a player who does not know proper resource management or the simple art of playing safe. If the mid laner proves competent I will lend them a blue come mid-game as they've shown they're actually worth giving it to. Buffs don't come free of charge.

Sometimes the match-up doesn't allow them the lee-way to constantly autoattack the minion wave and they need to farm with their abilities lest they be horribly murdered (either during laning or sieges).

These AD casters more-often-than not possess adequate range to farm at a safe distance and get it done faster specifically because they are building AD. If they step into a potentially difficult laning phase, which they should be aware of, then the proper thing to do is buy corrupting potion.

Sometimes the mid-laner is just feeding and can't be trusted to hold onto a Blue Buff without dying and giving it to the enemy team.

Then all the more reason not to give it to them.

The situation is never that cut-and-dry.

Yes, but it's not a hard situation to work through either. AD Casters don't take a terrible amount of risk and are pretty safe for the most part, so solving what few problems they do encounter in the early laning phase is easy, especially since these same casters tend to be bullies who can harass quite well.

Duh, that's not even being frank, that's just logical.

  • If that means giving it to the AP mid-laner with waveclear and poke, I will.

If they have wave clear and poke then farming to their mana items shouldn't be a problem, reducing their need for blue, especially if they started corrupting potion which is a highly viable option.

  • If that means keeping it as a mana-intensive jungler (AP, AD or tank), I will.

I prefer to get my laner ahead through ganks as opposed to giving them buffs, but will start handing it to them mid game if I've gotten some mana items of my own done, or they've proven themselves capable of handling it.

  • If that means giving it to the support or ADC, I will.

Essence Reaver is good as a starting item on many caster ADCs: MF, Lucian, Ez, Corki all make great use of it since it provides high damage, cdr, and the crit to get their mana back. I realized its potential on Varus before it even got put into his recommended items. Glacial shroud is an easy item to grab on backing if the support is running relic shield, and if they're a squishier support, then they need to be starting spell thief's edge, or ancient coin for their mana regeneration needs. There are other items beyond this that the support can purchase if they are in dire need of mana regen.

As for mages? If you're wave clearing then you are getting mana back if you have doran's ring, and many mages have mana sustain built into their kit: Swain, Karthus, Malzahar, Xerath, Vel'Koz, Annie, and as I said before, corrupting potion is a very viable option as it provides sustain and even damage to fight back with.

If you're playing Lucian, you shouldn't get Essence Reaver. The Youmu's build is superior in most every way right now. If you're jayce, you absolutely should not get Essence Reaver because you have no reason to want crit over AD caster stats. I always have stronger and more cost-effective options than Essence Reaver.

Building one or two crit items that give enormous AD on Jayce does not = priotizing crit over AD nor is that a valid argument when Essence Reaver and Infinity Edge give 140 combined AD on Jayce, and then 210 if he gets a bloodthirster or death's dance. His w in cannon stance is what you crit with since it is pure autoattacks+an AS steroid. The only way to prioritize crit over AD is to build phantom dancer, statik shiv, or rapidfire cannon which give zero AD and we both know Jayce is a fighter as well as a marksman. If the enemy team is nothing but a bunch of squishies, RAW AD is fine, but if there are tanks you will want a damage amplifier to go along with your big AD and armor penetration stats, or they'll just soak up the damage, and your hammer stance's e while great and all is not going to cover all the damage.

On Lucian? The BC+YG build is fine for damage and sticking to your enemy, and if you start spamming spells, which is likely what's going to happen on a champion who uses autoattacks between rapid spell rotations, then you will run out of mana fast, especially when it comes time to take down that tank who just jumped in your face, and you can't get around him because your range got nerfed to shit.

Building one or two crit items that give enormous AD on Jayce does not = priotizing crit over AD

It does equal prioritizing crit over AD caster stats though. I could be getting other items that have armor penetration and cheaper AD instead. Better items include Bloodthirster, Death's Dance, Maw, Ghostblade, Muramana, and Cleaver. Better stats for a cheaper price. I take those over the IE+ER combination every single game. No exceptions.

His w in cannon stance is what you crit with

This is the only mechanic he has that synergizes at all with crit, and it represents a relatively low percentage of his damage. He does a much higher percentage of his damage with abilities, so he should build around those. Crit is expensive. You don't build it if you're doing the large majority of your damage with abilities. It's a very easy way to waste gold.

The BC+YG build is fine for damage

It is better for damage, and for tankiness, and for CDR because you get the same amount at a lower price. Those alone mean that you shouldn't build essence reaver, because it will overload you on CDR if you build it after the far superior ghostblade + cleaver. You lead that into a phantom dancer, IE, and lifesteal. No place for essence reaver and its wasted stats.

Mana sustain is not worth building an inferior item, particularly in the late game.

Ashe sure does love a good blue buffing from time to time. More volley spam and better arrow never hurts.

I'm always thrilled when I happen to be around helping invade the enemy blue buff and I get pinged to take it as Janna .

Usually only happens when our mid isn't around and our jg already has blue, but when I get priority over the adc I'm filled with sqwee.

Sona Nami love the blue buff also a blue buff on KogMaw can be really nice cause the ult costs more per consecutive use and the w has a low cooldown
