What the hell is going on with minions?

Besides the creep blocking getting worse which we all know about, why are they getting so ferocious? Their range of aggression seems so much larger now. I had a caster and siege minion follow me from the middle of the lane to under my turret and they chunked half of my health because we were low levels. I was easily 800+ units away from the minions and there were plenty of other targets for them to make the subject of their cruelty.

Why is this happening? In all my years of league I have never seen minions so bloodthirsty.
