When was Zed really a problem for you?

I don't know about you guys, but Zed has never really been a problem for me in my games. There have been occasional ones that have gotten pretty fed, but the vast majority do mediocre and some do quite terribly. Any team that has CC can lock him down pretty quickly in team fights and most of the ones that try the LCS splitpush style just end up getting caught out and dying. Maybe Master/Challenger players have a right to complain about him but I don't really think he's too much of a problem at all. His kit can be forgiving, but also punishing if you aren't keeping track of the enemy's CC or escapes. Normal ELO players don't have LCS level mechanics to make the huge flashy plays consistently. The majority of them that I see try just get CC locked and blown up in teamfights.

I think if people would stop using the LCS as a reference for their own soloQ, this game would be so much better. The likelihood of you playing against someone who is on par with Bjerg is almost 0

My biggest issue with Zed is that it takes 10-15 games for my brain to adjust every time they change his ult shadow placement.

it's behind you. It's in front of you! it's behind you again!

Honestly, when I played old Veigar with DFG I found him pretty easy to lane against. The only thing I didn't like about him was the fact that he could go 0/12 in lane but still be able to 100-0 my carries.

I have 100-0 an ADC with Zed, and it felt like it took less than 3 seconds. This was about a year ago and I wasn't level 30 yet or very good at him. There have been a lot of changes and it was one of my first games with him. I specifically remember it being a miss fortune. It sucks when you can't even react, but that's were ward placement and having allies nearby helps a lot.

The only problem I have is when our mid feeds him. People have said he is too strong, but if I am par with a Zed, and somewhat depending on the kit I have due to the champion I chose, I have absolutely zero problems against one. Obviously if I chose a champion that I can't 1 v 1 a Zed, then I'm not going to if I see him in the jg or in lane. I'm going to play the role I was assigned to the team, whether it be tank, mage, support (which I don't really play much) or whatever else I am.

You can say that for most midlaners though tbh. A ton of them are scary if they get super fed

People seem to forget that midlaners used to be "AP Carries" for a reason -- midlaners are usually pretty good at killing people.

I still use the term APC every now and then. People like Akali are sometimes impossible to defeat when fed. Due to becoming somewhat better at league over the years, the thing that sucks is I'm probably not the one ever feeding.

As a Shaco main I dont have a problem against him 1v1 because I can cancel his ult. However a good zed is impossible to gank or peel off your adc without an extreme amount of cc like Taric Pantheon Maokai .

Dont forget Lissandra Lulu Fiddlesticks Galio Gragas Janna Leona Malzahar Sona Soraka Warwick MonkeyKing can CC him quickly as well

You see the problem here right? With your argument? I'll give you a moment if you want to figure out this puzzle yourself....

The answer:

The problem with the argument is two-fold. The first is this: Almost none of those champs are mid-laners. The ones that are unpopular, for certain reasons and additionally have drawbacks. Further the ones who aren't taken midlane, if you do, they'll suffer from the significant drawbacks which keep them out of midlane normally. The second is that this argument is based around CC. We've all heard this before "Zed's not OP, Just CC him. That's his counter-play" The defense is based on CC, the thing that works on every champion in the game. That's a terrible reason.

The problem that people are complaining about with Zed is that, based on how everyone else kits work and the reason for that, Zed has advantages that no one else has, and he doesn't "pay" for them with weaknesses.

An easy way to make this really clear is to compare Zed with Lux, oddly enough. Lux's design is a ranged mage with long range, AOE damage abilities. Zed's design is a single target, melee assassin. Zed has both better poke and wave clear. And he's manaless.

the thing that works on every champion in the game. That's a terrible reason.

Thats not accurate. Zed relies on jumping on a squishy carry in the middle of a team during fights. CC is far more effective on him. If he gets cced, he will be stuck in the middle of a team and get blown up. CC on ranged champions rely on either catching them out of position or your team has to be able to follow up quickly. It's not the same

CC is effective on everyone, that's the point!
It can't be used as a example of counterplay strategy for anymore than things like "Zed is weak to having his tower taken when he roams or backs" or "Zed is countered by tons of damage". Because it's not a weakness of Zed; it's a weakness of everyone and thus can't be given as a disadvantage of Zed.

Also, what you gave as an example is evidence against the idea of Zed not being a problem.

No, the point is Zed is way weaker to hard CC than other carries. Would you rather get CCed in the middle of an enemy team or behind your teams front line?
