Active players in ranked dropped?

Idk I could be miss remembering, but last season I was in Plat 5 or whatever (unimportant) at around ladder rank 90,000 players (top 7%). But this season I'm at Gold 2 (even less important) at ladder rank 108,000 (top 17.82%). If I'm remembering and doing the math correctly then this would indicate that we're sitting at a substantially smaller pool of ranked players this season over last. Anyone else seeing this? Maybe it's the positional ranks? I have no idea.

Insight welcome

It's Iron and Grandmaster existing - these two redistributed MMR across the board.

If you were top 7% last year you're top 7% this year too. It's just that the rank equivalent for that % changed

That's not what OP meant.

If 90K was 7%, it means there was 1285K total players. If 108K is 17%, it means there is 635K total players.

So yeah, that's a lot less, but it's simply because we are much earlier in the season.

It's just that we are earlier in the season, so a lot of people aren't Ranked yet. I, for one, still haven't played my placements for SoloQ, only Flex.

I may not be good at math, but I can assure you that a lot of the comeptitive/casual player-base who have dealt with Riot's ineptitude for years have moved on from League.

Season 8 was the straw that broke the camel's back. All of the unnecessary changes for the sake of change. All of the RNG and overexcessive damage implemented into the game reduced the quality of gameplay to the point where the game is a complete joke... It's a total mess.

League is not competitive anymore, folks. It's a casual game masked as a competitive game and Riot's trying their damn hardest to cater toward new/casual players. However, they are failing. Even casual players don't like this game.
