Galio has the second highest winrate in the game, WTF?

Top lane Galio has the second highest winrate in game at 56,3% winrate, losing only to mid lane Malzahar at 56,92% winrate. This is according to champion.gg http://champion.gg/statistics/#?roleSort=&sortBy=general.winPercent&order=descend

However, Galio does not even come close to have the same ban rate as Malzahar, and he is also a lot less picked (Malzahar himself is an uncommon pick but that's because he is banned often)

Even so I am curious to why Galio has such high winrate. Oh, and did I mentioned that mid lane Galio has a 54,31% winrate?

Nobody who's bad at Galio top plays Galio top. Whereas there are people who are bad at say, Zed mid who play Zed mid.

Also might be a strict counterpick. Like, if Galio does really well against Heimerdinger, and is only picked against Heimerdinger, he'll do better on average and have a higher win rate.

Galio=the anti-mage

Everyone is playing the new mages, hence more mages per game.

Anti-mage's winrate goes up because there are more mages in any given game.

That logic makes sense to me.

I am talking about Galio's winrate and not about his playrate

yea its a clear cut scenario the only ones that play him are the ones that CAN play him and since he is so rare very few people actually know how to counter him

because hes never used, its like saying Warwick is op in Challenger with 100% win rate, when it turns out that he's only been picked once or twice.

I didn't said that Galio was OP, though. I am just curious to why he has such high winrate even though he is a very, very niche pick at best.

i didn't say he was either, the point is that because his pick rate is so low only the people who know him really well play him and succeed. Lee sin has the highest pick rate of any jungler but hes currently sitting at what, 45%? its because he has a bunch of people who don't know him trying to make big dick lcs plays.

usually there is a reason to play galio, whereas there is no reason to play malzahar except that hes perceived to be the most busted champ atm so he is a contested pick

by this i mean you are most likely not going to first pick galio and pick him as a reaction more than anything, and the few that do, probably know how to play around his weaknesses

Galio loves building MR.

Everyone's playing mages.

A lot of the mages everyone's playing aren't even really strong, they just have new fancy gizmos that people want to try out.

Also, Galio's winrate has always been pretty high because he has a ridiculous initiate ult that tells his whole team "teamfight now and we win the game"
