Flat Armor seals are necessary for ADC. Likewise for Flat MR glyphs mid lane.
Scaling runes are fairly niche if you don't have 20 pages and a desire to have multiple overspecialized pages for a single role.
This.
I run flat armor/scaling MR as ADC. I'd like to also have a flat armor/flat MR page for certain matchups (like a Corki/Sona lane) or certain junglers (fiddles, diana) and that's probably what I'll do with my next rune pages, but that's because that's my main role.
That means I'll have 4 pages just for ADC
- AD - ad - flat ar - flat mr
- AD - ad - flat ar - scaling mr
- AS - ad - flat ar - flat mr
- AS - ad - flat ar - scaling mr
o, also I have a page with one AD and two lifesteal quints still, but it really hasn't been useful since they changed doran's blade to a lifesteal mechanic instead of a flat hp mechanic. That's a long time I've been wasting a rune page slot come to think of it.
Everywhere else is not my main role so I should run flat ar / flat mr there (I don't think I do though and that's suboptimal. I should fix that.). I don't even -own- scaling AR runes because of the current jungler meta. There's simply no way that I'm going to create 4 or more pages for anything other than my main role so I'm not going to have a scaling AR page on the off chance that I'm left with mid as last-pick and going against an AP midlane and jungle... I -have- been left mid as last pick before... but only two or three times in a hundred games so I'm not going to lose sleep over having suboptimal runes. (Plus flat armor is useful early anyway if you find yourself having to tank minion damage; maybe to stop them from walking into your turret so you can set up a freeze, or just because you went aggressive among enemy minions. That early minion damage -hurts-.)
