Unpopular Opinion: Yasuo is not as broken as he is made out to be

I know for a fact I’ll get downvotes by people who refuse to learn to counter the champion, but I’ll give my thoughts regardless.

Yasuo is not broken or overpowered. In fact, his winrate is rather decent in lower elos and drops in plat and above. And by dropping, I mean under 50%. There’s a common issue with the boards that annoying champions are mixed in with overpowered. Yes, Yasuo has a kit packed full of annoying abilities and passives. However, he is not broken. If you watch higher level play I’ve noticed in order to delay Yasuos powerspike you can gank him a lot early. I suggest people try to learn to counter this champion instead of bitching about how broken he is when he isn’t even a contested pick in pro play or high level solo queue.

Most people will agree with you. No, he's not broken or overpowered but that doesn't mean people want to deal with him and his safety nets. He's annoying.

Game balance is not all about numerical balance. In fact, for 95% (if not higher) of players it's about fun & frustration.

If you're diamond+ numerical balance starts becoming a real issue, but to most players below that it really doesn't matter much.

What's important for most players is that the game feels fun to play. And frustrating champion kits are much more of an issue than straight up numbers.

Don't confuse when people start arguing about frustrating champion design, and try to defend your the champ using something else like numerical statistics.

Yasuo definitely falls into the "frustrating champions" groups, and even though he may be numerically balanced, he is ruining the games of many players.

And ruining the fun of the game absolutely is another important factor in champion design and balance that deserves attention.

If one champion must to adjusted it will be adjusted, it doesn't matter if you love the champion the way it is. Many people enjoyed to play the pre reworked version of many champions and disliked the changes on them with reworks. I loved to play Evelynn pre rework and now she is NOTHING like her old self, for me she was PERFECT... but they MURDER her completely for me.

Ur right, it is unpopular. But not because of his dmg, its because of his bullshit windwall that blocks 95% of abilities and ultimates in this game and has zero counterplay to it.

his windwall is too broken. and i mean its hitbox. yasuo can just stand inside of his own windwall and no skillshot is able to hit him. which is just bullshit

It's not his wind wall, damage, or knockup that actually annoys people. It's his shields (They just don't know it because they don't see it in dynamic play).

His shield has a perfect Synergy with item 3072 which uniquely allows him to always either be charging his passive shield (which has no cooldown, charges faster in champion encounters, and scales from 100 damage to 510 damage shield) or his BT shield while his Passive shield is active.

And since item 3046 drastically reduces his damage received, he generally is hard to chip through on those shields.

And he can add 2-3 more layers of shields with Nullifying Orb, item 3156 (Which also heals him with Life steal), and I've even seen a Yasuo take item 3190.

His shields are so powerful that he can literally stand in front of a Baron, Point Blank, and just spam Q to kill it, and not take a SINGLE point of damage, because his Shields are constantly soaking it all. And vs a Baron, Yasuo's damage is only about 200 per hit, so he's receiving less life steal/damage to convert to shields than he is versus champions, which he does 3 times as much damage to.

^ Should give you an idea of how significant the shields actually are to a fight. (You just don't see it in a fight as much because you are constantly chipping at Yasuo's barrier which makes it appear tiny; But Qing a group of 3-4 minions gives him about 600 points of shielding). I've actually tried something vs a MissFortune : I literally stood in her Ult, and took 0 damage while I killed her, just Qing away. Didn't even have to wind wall or anything.

If Riot nerfed item 3072 's shield or reduced Yasuo's own scaling (to say 100-310), You'd see him being a lot less frustrating and more about actual skill. His counters would stay counters the entire game, rather than getting butchered post level ~ 11.

P.S. The reason Yasuo generally has a low win rate is because people play him like Talon: The incessantly try to 1v5 over and over, when in reality their champ is godly in a team fight. When you 1v5, You're always giving 1 death and 4 assists to the opponent, even if you do kill 1-2 people. Over the course of the game, that adds up, and is why many Talons/Yasuo's lose games... because they're constantly feeding entire teams gold enough to have power to take opportunities and push turrets and end games. If they played him like he had a risk of dying, and worked more as a team, he'd go up 10% and rival Khazix as one of the most broken stats champs in game.

Not many people says that he is broken. We say that he is extremely unfun to play against. Laning becomes a choir, and the entire game is ruined when facing a good Yasuo.

Wait for boards reaction once riot is going to buff yasuo in the next patches XD Riot Blaustoise mentioned on reddit they are currently looking to change yasuo which will most likely buff him because of the crit changes.

The biggest problem with Yasuo that nobody ever considers is the burden his double crit passive puts on Riot when it comes to changes to crit items. It took literal seasons for anything in ADC itemization to change majorly, and the question of "Will these changes break Yasuo?" is a major contributor to that time

Its not unpopular. Its just Yas haters want to skin you alive for saying that he's not broken. Trying to sate their unskilled desires to make him either a dead champ or a extremely easy to shit on champ.
